In the early 90’s, when TBS was just showing local Atlanta Hawks game and everything started 5 minutes after the hour, one of my favorite players to watch was Stacey Augmon aka The Plastic Man.  I became a fan of his high-flying game in the late 80’s, when he was playing for the unstoppable Runnin’ Rebels team with Greg Anthony, Anderson Hunt and Larry Johnson. I became a much bigger fan when he started making weekly appearances on NBA Inside Stuff’s Jam Session segment and made multiple appearances on the original VHS hoop mixtape – Jam Session in 1992.

He put up some good all-around stats during those Atlanta TBS days, then became a valuable journeyman on the Pistons, Blazers, Hornets and Magic. Now he’s back to where it all started, as an assistant coach for UNLV, where he became the first 3-time winner of the NBABC Defensive Player of the Year award and a NCAA Champion.  He is also in the UNLV Hall of Fame.
