Last month, Damian Lillard dropped a career-high 51 on Steph Curry in a 137-105 beatdown on the Warriors. Last night, the Warriors avenged the loss with a 128-112 win behind 71 points and 15 3-pointers from the Splash Brothers: Thompson had a game-high 37 and Curry outscored Oakland native Lillard 34 to 17 while playing just 29 minutes.
“I don’t think there was revenge,” coach Steve Kerr said after the Warriors 47th straight home win. “I think there was respect.”
We know Kerr, the Warriors and everybody who knows anything about basketball respects Lillard (how could they not?) but whether they want to admit it or not, i’m sure a little sweet revenge was on their mind (how could it not?), especially for Curry.
The Chef scored 18 of the Warriors 40 1st quarter points and finished the game with 7 3-pointers, giving him 311 for the season.
TEAMS COMBINE FOR RECORD 37 THREE POINTERS
This was the first time in NBA history where both teams made at least 18 3-pointers.
