For Warriors and Steph Curry fans, the start of the 2015/16 season felt just as good and as emotional as the end of last season when the Chef was celebrating a MVP and NBA championship.
“This is an unbelievable day,” Curry said. “I got kind of goosebumps kind of reliving all the moments that we had.”
The day started off with a ring ceremony and the raising of a championship banner for the Warriors and also a moment of silence for Coach Flip Saunders, who passed away on Sunday.
Then fans were treated to the sight of Curry having the highest scoring first quarter of his career with 24 – making 7 of his first 9 shots which included 4 3-pointers.
“Some of those shots that Steph made, it doesn’t matter who’s out there, that’s just who he is,” Coach Gentry said.
During the 2nd quarter, we were treated to another emotional moment when the Warriors played a “Welcome Back” tribute video to sideline reporter Craig Sager.
The Warriors dominated the Pelicans in the 3rd and went on to win 111-95 behind Curry’s 10th 40 point game and 7 assists in just 36 minutes.
The only thing that wasn’t perfect about Curry on Tuesday night was his jacket during the ring ceremony.
