The Lance and LeBron story just keeps getting better and more amusing.
It all started back in the 2012 Eastern Conference Semis when Lance, fairly unknown at the time, gave LeBron the choke signal after James missed a free throw. Stephenson was rewarded with Dexter Pittman flagrant and a Juwan Howard scolding.
Flash forward to GM2 of the current 2014 rematch between the Pacers and Heat. Stephenson scored a team-high 25 points and gave us an epic flop on LeBron/impersonation of Kevin Hart’s grandma and was rewarded with a loss and a $5k fine.
Then after a GM3 loss vs the Heat, Stephenson, who scored 10 points to LeBron’s 26, talked to the media about how he’s “getting under” LeBron’s skin by trash talking.
“To me, I think it’s a sign of weakness,” Stephenson said, according to the Associated Press. ”He never used to say anything to me. I always used to be the one who said, `I’m going to do something to get you mad.’ Now he’s trying to do it to me. So I feel like it’s a weakness. I feel like I’m doing something right because I’m getting under his skin, but I’ve definitely got to keep stepping up to the plate and be more aggressive when he does that.”
LeBron responded by saying,
“I’m not much of a talker. I don’t ever start it but I can get involved in it and still keep my head. Winning the game is more important. I understand what the main goal is.”
Charles Barkley, who has been making lots of friends in San Antonio with his own recent trash talking, had a much more direct message for Lance – Shut the hell up!
I think this guy feels the same way as Chuck.
