Giannis Antetokounmpo didn’t come away with a W against LeBron James and the Cavs but did leave a positive impression on James.
“He’s a guy who has that size and that speed and that length,” James said of Giannis. “I think J-Kidd does a great job of putting him in lineups where he can have mismatches. He’s all over the floor.”
He also had a near perfect shooting line with a career-high 33 points on 12 on 15 field goals, 1 of 2 from 3 and 8-8 from the stripe while spending most of the night going against James and Kevin Love.
“As a young player, I like to take the challenge, but I don’t want to just talk about me,” Antetokounmpo said. “We’ve got to focus more on our defense. At home, we won against the best team in the world. The other night was like a playoff atmosphere.”
James led the way for the Cavs with a team-high 27 points on 9 of 13 shooting.
“This is how we need to play,” James said. “There’s no ifs ands or buts.”
