Check out episode 10 of SB Nation’s great “Origins” series about the NBA’s Morris Twins: Marcus and Markieff.

The two brothers, who were both 6’5 in elementary school, wanted to be the next great stars in the NFL. But when they were spotted by a basketball coach, the coach went to meet their mother and told her if she would allow him to teach them basketball, he would guarantee they at least get a college scholarship.

He was right, they ended with a scholarship to go to Kansas. They were then drafted with the 13th and 14th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and you know the rest of their story.
