“You spent how much on those shoes?!”
“But… they’re just sneakers…”
A few phrase that people will say when they ask about a certain pair of sneakers. Just like everything else, every other hobby whatever it may be, Sneakers have a culture and background to it.
The Brooklyn Museum is now displaying nearly 150 pairs of kicks to portray what has become of the sneaker culture dating back from the early 70’s to modern day. This exhibition will be known as “The Rise of Sneaker Culture“. Brands will be represented with retro sneakers from the archives of Adidas, Converse, Nike, Puma, and Reebok. Major fashion brands will be displaying their sneakers as well such as Diadora, Prada, Pierre Hardy, and others.
The majority of the shoe will be presented in glass boxes to show how iconic and how the shoe revolutionized the culture of sneakers. You can see the exhibit yourself which will be running up until October 10th at the Brooklyn Museum.
