In the latest episode of Thru The Lens, our friend Cassy Athena spends a day with D’Angelo Russell who was in LA to accept the Jerry West award (given to the best shooting guard in the country) at the Wooden Awards.  The day started off with Russell volunteering as a coach for a special Olympics basketball game then to Rosco’s Chicken and Waffles and ends with a great conversation where Russell talks about players he modeled his game after, like Manu and Steph Curry, and explains how playing with a “cocky arrogance” has helped him get to this point.

A point that might look like Philly on a map in a few months as many mocks drafts have him going to the 76ers at the #3 spot. Unfortunately for the Knicks, they don’t have a top 3 pick because if they did they probably would pick him considering Phil Jackson recently got fined by the NBA for gushing over the “great prospect” before Russell declared for the NBA draft.

Also be sure to check out the website for more great Thru The Lens episodes and a lot of great photos of LA basketball action.  She recently attended our Ballislife All-American Game and took some great shots like this one.
