Tim Duncan will appear in a Punisher Comic Book (to go w/ his Punisher Knee brace & costume)
Is it me or is Tim Duncan getting cooler as he gets older?
I’m not saying anything negative about Duncan’s ex-wife, but when the world found out he was dating the very hot Vanessa Macias (lots of pics of her below), he earned a lot of cool points with a lot of fans that weren’t the biggest Spurs fans.
If she wasn’t enough to brag about – the 5 NBA championships and 2 MVP awards are nice too – Duncan can now brag that he’s in a Punisher comic book that’s a lot cooler looking than his Punisher knee brace.
Although his Punisher Halloween costume was pretty cool.

The Spurs’ resident comic book geek will be featured on a special batch of variant covers for an upcoming issue of Marvel Comics’ The Punisher, whose trademark death’s head logo adorns one of Duncan’s knee braces. (Duncan is also a fan of another Marvel character, Deadpool, a wise-cracking mutant mercenary.)
The cover was rendered by Mike Choi, a Judson and University of Texas graduate who, according to his biography, spent three years as an IT consultant before quitting to pursue a career in art. He’s since done prominent work for both DC and Marvel, including the upcoming cover featuring his hometown’s biggest athletic hero as a grease monkey. (Notice that Choi took care to give Duncan’s championship ring prominent placement.)
The issue, with Duncan’s only appearance coming on the cover, will be released on Oct. 25. The Dodge Challenger featured on the cover is being replicated by Duncan’s specialty auto BlackJack Speed Shop, and will be unveiled on the same day for charitable auction.
As Ballislife’s resident comic book geek, I’m going to do some bragging. At last month’s Houston Comic-Con I had the pleasure of meeting Robert Liefeld – the genius behind the wise-cracking mutant mercenary Deadpool. Take that Duncan.
I also have a long history with Punisher comics and artists. Besides owning just about every early Punisher appearance, one of my letters, complaining about the artwork of the comic, was printed in an early Punisher issue. The artist was then replaced in the next issue (I know I had nothing to do with it) and then almost a decade later, I received this autographed comic book with a funny note from a current Punisher artist asking if the art was OK – yeah I also have a pretty awesome Dad who gets me gifts like this.
So enough of me bragging about my comics. You only scrolled down this far to see pics of Duncan’s girlfriend, so here you go.
