Just a few weeks after posting a video of some NYPD officers beating kids (at basketball), I have the pleasure of posting this pic of two Tacoma police officers playing ball with some kids.
The picture was posted online by Tacoma resident Tara Scheidt on Monday and within a day the picture was making the rounds and became local news.
“Yep, this just happened on my street tonight!” said Schedit. “There was a domestic violence call in the area and afterward these officers played a little basketball with the kids in the neighborhood. This is why I love Tacoma and this is why we are worlds apart from other police departments. Tacoma Police get the concept of community policing. It actually happens in neighborhoods like yours and mine.”
With online animosity against police officers at an all-time high, it’s great to hear about a community that supports their local law enforcement.
“Nationally we are very aware of some of the sentiment toward officers,” said Police spokesperson Loretta Cool. “But in Tacoma, we’ve had overwhelming support that we’re doing the right thing.”
