UA Elite 24 Alumni: Lance Stephenson
Nickname(s): “Born Ready, Sir Lance A Lot”
High School: Lincoln (Brooklyn, N.Y.)
Hometown: Coney Island
Elite 24 Highlights: Being a New York native with a flashy game, the Elite 24 is tailor-made for a player with Stephenson’s talents. One of only four players to appear in the event three times (Dexter Strickland, LaQuinton Ross, DaJuan Coleman), Stephenson holds a variety of event records. His 83 total points and 27.3 ppg average are both Elite 24 records, as is his 38-point performance for the Skip club in 2007.
Post Elite 24: After a much-publicized high school career that saw him score 2,946 points and lead Lincoln to four consecutive PSAL titles, Stephenson was named the 2009-10 Big East Rookie of the Year. After a slow start in the pros, “Born Ready” had a breakout season with the Indiana Pacers in 2013-14, scoring 13.8 ppg for the playoff club.
