Dwyane Wade honored Allen Iverson with an Instagram pic of the two together so it was only fitting we honor both of them by presenting you with this classic duel between the two NBA greats.

April 14th, 2005 – The 76ers were facing the Miami Heat in a must win game for a shot at the playoffs and Shaquille O’Neal, who missed the previous 3 games with a stomach virus, was back in the lineup.   Thankfully for Iverson and Philly, Shaq would end up helping the 76ers by missing 8 of 11 free throw attempts including 2 clutch ones in the final minute of OT.  Shaq would finish the game with only 13 points and 12 rebounds but the slack was picked up by Dwyane Wade who had a career high 48 points to go along with 10 rebounds and 6 assists.  Iverson traded buckets with Wade all night and finished with 38 points 16 assists, 6 rebounds and a 126-199 win.

After the game, Iverson complimented Wade and his performance.

“He showed he’s a different kind of player by shooting the ball the way he did,” Iverson said. “Our scouting report said let him shoot jumpers. But it didn’t work. He just played great.”

8 years later, you can see that the respect between the two is still there.
