Pink eye has been the main reason for Kawhi Leonard’s recent offensive struggles but the one-eyed Finals MVP wasn’t playing like a guy you could sneak up and scare from the right side last night. The man with over-sized hands (wait a minute, isn’t there a myth about big hands, pink eye and…nevermind) tied his career-high with 26 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and came away with 3 steals including this impressive one against ball handling wiz CP3. Leonard’s 10 made field goals was as many as starters Duncan, Parker and Green combined!
“It’s just that my vision isn’t 100 percent yet,” Leonard said. “But I’m just playing games trying to get used to it, and hopefully it will just blow past.”
Hopefully it blows past soon because Coach Pop sounds like he wants the ball in Kawhi’s big mitts right now.
“We’ve got to start giving him the ball,” Popovich said. “I don’t think Tim and Manu are going to play any more than six or seven more years, so somebody else, do something.”
As for Clippers’ Coach Doc Rivers, who said “I can’t imagine when he can really see again” about Leonard, he might not even live six or seven more years if he has many more of these near heart-attack moments near the end of the game.
