UPDATE: THE TRADE HAS BEEN KILLED BY THE NBA
Will we be seeing this on Christmas?
Just when you think the Lakers team is losing steam it makes a move to win a championship and sometimes it makes a big move that looks like a dynasty in the making. That move was done today as the Lakers shipped off Gasol to the Houston Rockets who then shipped off Scola, Kevin Martin & Dragic to the Hornets who shipped off their best player of the past decade MVP candidate Chris Paul to the LA Lakers. The Lakers are used to having superstars but it’s been decades since they had such a great point guard. You might even make a case that Chris Paul will be the 2nd best point guard in the franchises history.
What makes the cherry on top of this trade so much sweeter than anything else you are going to hear until the NBA starts is that this trade will make Dwight Howard want to come to LA even more. There’s a lot of rumors that Bynum and misc will be heading to Orlando for Superman2.0.
In the meantime (which might just be hours or days), let’s just welcome Chris Paul to LA. Meanwhile in Miami, they are welcoming Shane Battier (crickets).
