The faces of the following Mikes from the 48 point beatdown handed to the Lakers by the Clippers says it all. It was not only the worst loss in Lakers franchise history but the best win in Clippers franchise history. And to think earlier in the day many of us were celebrating Shaq’s birthday and remembering his 61 point 23 rebound birthday performance in a 123-103 win over the Clippers 13 years ago.

- 8 Clippers were in double figures
- Blake Griffin was 3 assists away from a triple double in 25 minutes
- Wes Johnson was 0-7 from 3. 1-9 total.
- Danny Granger scored 10 points in 17 minutes

They smelled blood in the water and they killed us – Mike D’Antoni
We got beat by 48. It’s not fun. Regardless of whether it’s a record-breaking performance or not, it is still frustrating. It’s not fun getting blown out at any level, but especially on national TV and in front of the world. We have to have more pride than that. I do not think the Clippers are 48 points better than us – Jodie Meeks
It’s tough to see what’s happened to them, because they were my team growing up. But they’re an opponent now. We kept our foot on their neck the entire night. They’re having a tough season, but that team will always find a way to get back on top. – Matt Barnes
It was just a terrible game on our part — turnovers, not getting back defensively and not moving the ball enough. We did not create plays for each other, and that is how it started to fall apart. But you can’t dwell on this game or it will really get you down. – Pau Gasol
You flush it down and you start tomorrow. … No use being philosophical about it. – Mike D’Antoni
