Every time 35 year old Kobe Bryant or 37 year old Vince Carter dunk, people get a little too emotional and carried away with flashback stories and vinsanity references. I love seeing the vets dunk as much as the next fan from the 90s but I'm not that impressed because we are talking about 6'6 guys who were dunk legends. Some of you might not consider Kobe a dunk legend but with the exception of Vince, no player in the league back then was throwing down more game windmills, 360 dunks and reverse alley-oops than Kobe.
What did surprise me was seeing 6'3, 36 year old, self-made billionaire and Grizzlies owner Robert Pera throw down a dunk on his instagram account. As a 6'0, 37 year old, (half) white, self-made thousandaire and owner of a Shareef Abdur Rahim Grizzlies jersey who enjoys dunking (on a 9 foot goal) - I'll admit I was impressed.
But the title of GOAT dunks by (barely) billionaire NBA owners still belongs to the GOAT and owner of the Hornets - 50 year old Michael Jordan.
Speaking of Jordan, back in October of last year, Pena challenged MJ to a game of 1-on-1 and Jordan replied,
“I think that’s comical. It didn’t make any sense. Why would I play one one-on-one? It’s a no-win situation for me no matter what.”
Pena then replied on Twitter,
"Haha..it's OK...people been calling me comical not too long and around $4bn dollars ago when my only friends were VIsa and MasterCard.
Now i'm waiting for footage of 6'8, 49 year old Mkhail "I'm worth $13.5 billion" Prokhorov dunking.
