It was 16 years ago when a pissed-off-mini-fro-wearing Vince Carter turned the 2000 Olympics into a dunk exhibition and 7’2 Fred Weis into the victim of the greatest dunk of all-time. Time flies. Flies like a young Vince Carter…or even a 30-year old Vince Carter…how about a near 40-year old Vince Carter?
While the USA and younger high-flyers like the Raptors’ DeMar DeRozan are in Rio trying to do what Carter and his USA team did in 2000, Vince is having fun on a China Tour and having deeeeep 3-point shootouts with his cousin and former Raptors’ teammate Tracy McGrady. The greatest dunker of all-time also showed the crowd he still has more hops in his 39-year old body than half of the current Team USA roster.
I apologize if you came here looking for video of the dunks but hopefully this 2002 throwback video of an afro-wearing (he was promoting the Nike Dr Funk ads) Carter in Taiwan will make up for it.
And here’s a few more pics and clips of Vince in China by photographer Wa Michael.
