Aaron Gordon got robbed! Blah, blah, blah, no he wasn’t. Every time Gordon throws down a nice dunk – like this reverse alley-oop dunk on Wednesday night – a bunch of people have to reply with “got robbed” comments. If anybody had a right to complain about anything after watching this dunk, it’s the Clippers because Evan Fournier got away with a travel before throwing the lob.
What should be talked about is how the man nicknamed “The Next Blake Griffin” in high school scored a career-high 33 points – 11 more than his previous high – against Blake Griffin and the Clippers on this night. Gordon connected on 13 of 21 shots, including 4 of 8 from deep; the 4 3-pointers was also a career-high. His 7 boards was the most he’s had this month and his 5 dunks gave fans 5 excuses to bring up last year’s dunk contest. So basically, i’m saying Gordon had one hell of a game. Unfortunately, it came in a loss, but the Magic have lost 4 of their last 5 games so that’s not a new feeling.
Hopefully the feeling of this career-high performance gets Gordon going and we start to see more of his complete game, including his impressive handles.
