Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports reports that Allen Iverson is hosting a 4-team tournament in Las Vegas, with teams consisting of NBA players.
According to Spears, the teams will play in a 4-game tournament. Each team will play their first game on November 12, with the winners going on to play in a championship game on the 13th. The losers of the first round games will also play on the 13th.
Each team in the tournament will have a captain who will recruit players to play for their team.
Players that have been reported to be interested include Kevin Durant, Amar’e Stoudemire, and Paul Pierce.
Games will be played at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV. The games on the second day have been scheduled to finish early so the players involved can attend the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Marquez boxing event that night.
With the lockout looming over us (and with no end in sight), the opportunity to watch NBA-caliber basketball is something to get excited about. We can only hope that the players put on a show.
