Amari Bailey (Skinner West 7th grader) and Kevin 'Boopie' Miller (Providence Englewood 8th grader) are 2 of Chicago's top young talents when it comes to city basketball.
The top Chicago grammar school basketball teams (usually K-8th grade) play a ton of games (50+), including weekend shootouts, conference games, church leagues, during the season,
but many of these games are lopsided blowouts which can be difficult to watch or play in. Each fall, Whitney Young HS coach Slaughter and others bring the "Best of the Best" teams from the Chicagoland area into one gym to compete for a weekend.
The gym is packed as the high school stars of tomorrow get their first chance on a big stage.
The most talked about 7th grader in Chicago, Amari Bailey made his big-stage debut versus Providence Englewood led by exciting 8th grade PG Kevin 'Boopie' Miller.
Here's some raw footage from that matchup. In the end Providence Englewood pulled away late, but we thought it was worth sharing a glimpse at Chicago 7-8th grade hoops.
Ballislife will continue following the top middle school players and teams this season.
