Fresh off his freshman year at University School of Broward County (Florida) 7-foot-1 center Balsa Koprivica, a native of Serbia, starred this summer for Nike Team Florida 15U. Playing alongside friend and fellow U-School classmate, future high major big 6'9 Vernon Carey Jr, Nike Team Florida won the prestigious Nike Peach Jam 15U division national championship in July. Next, they followed it up by winning Big Foot Hoops Las Vegas Classic playing up in the 16U division.
The son of former European professional power forward Slavisa Koprivica, Balsa has been on the national radar since debuting as an eighth-grader at University School. First noticed for his height, now Balsa is drawing attention for his abilities.
In addition to gathering his fair share of rebounds and putbacks and blocks in the post, Balsa is developing his offensive game.
Considered a top 10 recruit in the Class of 2019 (Scout 6, Rivals 3, ESPN 11, 247 1), arguably its top center, Florida, Miami, Baylor, USC, Louisville, and Georgia State have all offered Balsa.
247Sports Director of Basketball Scouting Jerry Meyer recently praised Balsa's "skill and feel for the game," comparing the young center to 2015-16 unainamous NBA rookie of the year Karl-Anthony Towns.
Check out these raw highlights from Balsa's tournament winning performance at Bigfoot Hoops' Las Vegas Classic with Nike Team Florida.
