Ben Simmons has only played in two summer games with the 76ers so far but the #1 pick of the draft has made it very evident he's going to be one of the most exciting passers in the league. The question is: will those fancy passes turn into assists and how many of them will turn into turnovers?
On Saturday, in a loss against #2 pick Brandon Ingram and the Lakers, Simmons was 1 bucket and 2 assists shy of having the first of many triple-doubles in this league. On the downside, he also missed 5 of his 8 shots and had almost as many turnovers (7) as he did assists (8).
"Obviously I got to do much better than tonight," Simmons said after the game. "Got a few more games to go and looking forward to learning from my mistakes."
SIMMONS VS INGRAM
"It was Lakers versus Philly tonight," Simmons said of the match-up. "They made a big deal out of [the first two draft picks facing each other], but I came into the game to win."
He didn't get the win but won the stat battle against Ingram, who after putting up 12 points in his debut, only scored 7 points on 3 of 12 shooting on Saturday.
"I think you kind of hype it up a little bit and you hype coming into the game and you try to get the jitters out and you try to play the game," Ingram said. "There was a lot of energy in the building tonight."
