Depending on your state, you may have so many NFL betting apps available that it’s hard to know which ones to choose. How can you tell which is better and why?
We’ll go over our top three best NFL betting sites and explain why they’re our favorites. We'll also discuss where NFL betting is legal, the various bet types, Super Bowl betting, and more.
When it comes to identifying the best apps for football betting, there are several key attributes to look for. These include a user design experience that’s straightforward but intuitive—it makes navigating the site easy. Additionally, you’ll want to browse the betting markets. All NFL gambling sites are different in terms of the types of bets they offer and the scope/quantity of bets.
Below are three NFL betting sites that stand out from the rest. We think they're the ones you should consider the next time you make a bet on the sport.
However, where PointsBet shines in betting markets is with PointsBetting, a unique feature. With PointsBetting, you are awarded for how correct you are. If the game has a total of 40 points and you bet $10 on the over, you’ll receive your wager multiplied by the number of points you were correct by. For example, if the final is 30-23 (53 points), you’d receive $130.
PointsBet also offers “Name A Bet,” where you can contact PointsBet, pitch a potential bet, and within 24 hours, they’ll approve or deny your request.
The welcome bonus at PointsBet Sportsbook features $500 in bonus bets. You’ll receive a $100 bonus bet each day over the first five days of having your account. You’ll have to use the $100 bonus bet you receive each day; otherwise, it’ll expire. Depending on when you create your account, you could benefit from an entire weekend of bonus bets and the NFL.
The PointsBet football betting apps are available for both iOS (iPhone) and Android users. Upon opening the app, you’ll find the log-in and sign-up buttons in the upper right-hand corner of the page with a carousel-like menu below that promotes the bonuses/promotions PointsBet has available at that time.
Below, you’ll find three menu options—featured, live, and next up. NFL betting can be involved in any of these depending on whether a game is coming up soon or is already live.
Along the bottom of the mobile betting app, you’ll find a menu that has links to your bets, the online casino (in legal states), the Quick Parlay option, live betting page, a list of available sports, and a menu that appears on the left side of the app. You’ll find links to the NFL and football betting within this menu.
When you open these pages, you’ll find the available games and the moneyline, point spread, and totals betting odds. You can also click on each game to open up additional betting options.
However, the boosted odds options are exciting, especially if you bet on the NFL and college football.
Tipico Sportsbook has not one, not two, but three different welcome bonus options.
With three options to choose from, this caters to players of all styles, so you can take your pick.
Tipico Sportsbook has formed a collaboration with USA Today Sports, so you’ll see those markings at the top of the app, with the login button to the right of that.
Below, you’ll find a menu listing the live betting, boosted odds, and rapid betting options, and a link to the promos page.
As you continue down the app, you’ll find a menu listing the available sports, including the NFL and NCAAF.
When you look to the bottom of the app, you’ll see a link to sign up and a mention of the welcome bonuses. This page will open with you picking the welcome bonus that works best for you.
There’s also a menu along the bottom of the app for the homepage, a list of sports, your bets, and the betslip.
Nevertheless, FanDuel can be a little slow to offer bets—some competitors are swifter in offering prop bets and odds.
FanDuel Sportsbook offers new players a $1,000 “No Sweat First Bet.” If your first bet loses, you will receive the equivalent value back in bonus bets so that you can bet a second time around with the hopes of winning and recouping some of your losses.
Additionally, FanDuel offers timely promotions; the current one provides $100 in bonus betting on NFL Wild Card Weekend Same Game Parlays.
When you open the FanDuel app, you’ll find an extensive menu at the top. Here, you’ll find links to the various sports, boosted odds, live betting, promos, the casino (in legal states), the refer-a-friend program, and their Betting 101 guide.
The Betting 101 Guide is a resource for players to learn about all types of wagers.
Back to the homepage, you’ll find a carousel-like menu below this initial horizontal menu advertising the available promotions.
At the time of writing, the NCAAF National Championship game is about to begin. On the FanDuel homepage, the featured game is TCU vs. Georgia. You’ll see the available bet types, including Any Time TD props.
Along the bottom of the app, you’ll find links to the homepage, a list of available sports, your betting history, the casino (in legal states), and your account.
As of January 2022, 26 states and jurisdictions either have legal online sports betting or it's pending launch.
Within these states and jurisdictions, betting on the NFL and football on betting apps is legal, but remember that not all sportsbooks are live everywhere.
For example, FanDuel Sportsbook isn’t available in all 26 states and jurisdictions—make sure you check out our resources to see what sportsbooks are available in each state.
Below is a list of some of those 26 states where you can engage in NFL betting online.
NFL Bet Type | Description / Example |
---|---|
NFL Parlay | A parlay is taking multiple contests and putting them on a single betslip. All contests must result in a win for a parlay to be successful. Example: |
NFL Point Spread | The point spread is a set number of points to distinguish between the superiority and inferiority of each team. If a team is -10.5, they must win the game outright by 11 points or more to win. Example: New York Giants +3 (-110). |
NFL Total | Wager on the combined number of points scored in a game. Example: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens—Over 43.5 (-110); Under 43.5 (-110). |
NFL Prop Bets | These are micro-events within a game and include team, game, and single-player props. Example: Justin Herbert Passing Yards 299.5; Over 299.5 (+130); Under 299.5 (-120). |
NFL Moneyline | Betting on what team will win the game. Example: San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks. |
NFL Live Bets | Wager on games that are actively in progress. Example: Pre-game, the 49ers were -520 on the moneyline, but the Seahawks scored first. The 49ers are now -160 to win the game. |
NFL Micro Bets | Micro betting is a form of live betting where you’re wagering on an immediate event that will resolve quickly. Example: Result on the next drive. Field Goal (-120); Touchdown (+200); Turnovers (+350). |
The Super Bowl is THE final game of the NFL season featuring two teams—the champions of the AFC and NFC. This is one of the most-watched sporting events in the world, with the 2022 Super Bowl between the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams attracting 99.18 million viewers. With that, there are a host of betting options for the Super Bowl that extend beyond that of a weekly game or even a standard playoff game.
In addition to the betting methods listed above, you’ll also have the three following options available to you:
Learning how to get started with NFL betting apps can be a bit confusing. Below we’ve created a step-by-step guide for how to get started.
As previously mentioned, NFL betting apps are in constant competition with one another and one way to stand out is through unique selling points that players won’t find anywhere else. Below are some examples from the numerous online sportsbooks.
Whenever you start looking for your first NFL betting sites or perhaps your first handful, one of the most exciting aspects of it are the welcome bonuses found at each site. Below, we’ll list some of the best welcome bonuses on the market today. Remember, these can change anytime, but we’ll keep you updated as that happens.
Additionally, we’ll cover the different types of offers in more detail.
NFL Betting Sites | NFL Betting App Offers and the description |
---|---|
DraftKings Sportsbook App | 20% Deposit Bonus matched up to $1,000. You will receive $1 in site credits per $25 wagered on NFL games. |
FanDuel Sportsbook App | $1,000 No Sweat First Bet. If your first NFL wager loses, you’ll receive it back in bonus bets. |
BetMGM Sportsbook App | First bet offer. You can place a first bet of between $10 and $1,000 and if it loses, you will receive your stake paid back in the form of bonus bets. |
Caesars Sportsbook App | $1,250 No Sweat Bet. If you lose the NFL bet, you’ll receive it back in bonus bets. |
PointsBet Sportsbook App | Receive a $100 bonus bet to wager on NFL games each day for the first five days you have an account. |
BetRivers Sportsbook App | $500 Bonus Bet on NFL betting when using promo code “SPORTS.” |
SI Sportsbook App | Bet $250 and get $200 in free bets for NFL. You must bet on something with minimum odds of +120. |
Tipico Sportsbook App | There are three NFL offers available:
|
With a no sweat bet, you’ll have a certain amount of money you can wager that you can guarantee you’ll receive back as bonus bets. If the offer is a $1,000 no sweat bet, you can bet up to $1,000, and if you lose, you’ll receive up to a $1,000 bonus bet that you can then use again to wager.
A no-deposit bonus is another term used for a bonus amount you receive simply for creating an account. So if the no-deposit bonus is $10, you’ll get $10 to wager with after completing the account registration process. These typically come with 1x wagering requirements, meaning you’ll need to wager whatever the bonus is in cash once over to withdraw the bonus you received as cash.
A deposit bonus takes your deposit and provides a bonus based on a percentage up to a certain amount. So, if you have a 100% deposit bonus worth up to $1,000 and you deposit $100, you’ll also get $100 in bonus funds. Like the no-deposit bonus, this will also have wagering requirements, starting at 1x and going up to as high as 10x or 15x, depending on the site and offer.
First bet offers will refund your first stake with bonus bets. Bonus bets are not cashable and, therefore, not as lucrative as a straight-up win. Also, you can lose these bets, which means there is always an element of risk to them.
When it comes to picking the right NFL betting apps, fortunately, as the player, you’re in the driver’s seat. While some states may only have one or very few options, some states have numerous platforms, meaning you can pick and choose as you go to see which one works best. This also helps when finding the best odds because you can compare multiple sites and find which one makes the most sense for what you want to do.
It requires effort, but this resource should help you find your go-to sportsbook. We listed three that we believe are the best, but we completely understand that they might not be for you. Each player is different, and we look at it from a more general standpoint.
We look forward to seeing you back here at Ballislife for all of our NFL-based content and to keep assisting you in making your NFL betting experiences the best they can be.
