2026-27 NFL Betting Odds: AFC North Best Bets & Predictions

Key Points
  • The Pittsburgh Steelers finished +12 in 2025, fourth-best in the NFL, producing 27 takeaways while committing only 15 turnovers. Will that carryover to the 2026 campaign, and is it enough to make them a viable longshot to win the division?
  • Despite quarterback instability last season, the Cincinnati Bengals still averaged 24.4 points per game and scored 414 points, 12th in the NFL, while converting 43.4% of third downs. Have they improved enough on defense to be the sleeper in this division?
  • The Baltimore Ravens rushed for 2,662 yards, 156.6 per game and 5.2 yards per carry in 2025, finishing second in the NFL in rushing yards. With Derrick Henry back, they could run away with the division title.

The AFC North has become anything but predictable. Pittsburgh made sure of that last season, dramatically dethroning Baltimore when Ravens kicker Tyler Loop missed a 44-yarder as time expired in Week 18, handing the Steelers the crown and giving the division three different champions in four years.

Now, the AFC North enters 2026 looking more unsettled than ever, with three new head coaches in Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Cleveland and Cincinnati's Zac Taylor suddenly the division's longest-tenured coach.

At quarterback, however, the top of the division remains loaded. Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow give Baltimore and Cincinnati legitimate championship ceilings, while Pittsburgh is betting on Aaron Rodgers for one final run. Cleveland remains the great unknown, with new coach Todd Monken sorting through a quarterback situation that could ultimately determine whether the Browns can compete or are headed toward another rebuild.

AFC North at a glance

The John Harbaugh era is over in Baltimore after an 8-9 season, but the Ravens still have Jackson and a roster capable of immediately rebounding under defensive-minded Jesse Minter. Baltimore isn't rebuilding; it's attempting to reload.

Cincinnati may have the division's highest offensive ceiling because everything starts with Burrow. If the Bengals can improve their defense and offensive line, they have the firepower to go from chasing Baltimore and Pittsburgh to controlling the North.

Mike McCarthy takes over in Pittsburgh, inheriting the defending division champion Steelers and Rodgers, making them one of the NFL's most fascinating win-now experiments. The Steelers won 10 games last season, but changing coaches after 19 years of Mike Tomlin creates an entirely new dynamic.

The Browns are the division's biggest longshot after going 5-12, changing coaches and entering camp without a settled quarterback. Monken brings offensive credibility, but Cleveland needs significantly better quarterback play — what else is new? — to realistically hang with the other three.

That leaves an AFC North with two elite quarterbacks, three new coaches, a defending champion undergoing a philosophical overhaul and virtually no certainty. It's the perfect setup to identify a longshot, sleeper and predicted AFC North champion.

AFC North Division Odds for 2026-27

Here are three takes for the division (odds courtesy DraftKings):

  • Baltimore Ravens -112
  • Cincinnati Bengals +184
  • Pittsburgh Steelers +510
  • Cleveland Browns +2100

AFC North Longshot

  • Pittsburgh Steelers (+510)

The Steelers make an intriguing AFC North longshot because they don't need a dramatic overhaul to contend; they simply need incremental improvement. Pittsburgh won 10 games and the division last season despite an offense that ranked only 17th in yards per play, leaving considerable room for growth. The Steelers have also remained one of the NFL's models of consistency, posting 22 consecutive non-losing seasons and reaching double-digit wins in three of the last six.

The bigger question is whether Pittsburgh can become more explosive offensively with McCarthy and Rodgers reuniting, while maintaining its defensive identity. The Steelers have consistently generated pressure and takeaways, two traits that travel well in a division where games are routinely decided by one possession. Their biggest defensive concern is improving against the run, particularly when the weather turns and AFC North football becomes more physical.

Getting Defensive

The strongest carryover for this team is turnover differential. Pittsburgh finished +12 in 2025, fourth-best in the NFL, producing 27 takeaways while committing only 15 turnovers. That matters because turnover margin is one of the NFL’s strongest indicators of winning close games, and Pittsburgh went 10-7 and won the AFC North despite being outgained 6,068 to 5,196.

Pittsburgh didn't need statistical dominance to win the division; it won through possession efficiency. If the Steelers maintain anything close to that +12 turnover profile while improving an offense that ranked only 15th in scoring (23.4 PPG), their ceiling rises considerably. They already proved the formula works, as they also went 4-2 inside the AFC North, including a sweep of Baltimore.

With Rodgers entering his final season, Pittsburgh also has urgency at the game's most important position. If the Steelers can turn last year's middle-of-the-pack offense into a top-12 unit while maintaining an above-average defense, they won't need everything to break perfectly. For a defending division champion being priced behind Baltimore and Cincinnati, that's exactly what makes Pittsburgh an appealing longshot rather than an afterthought.

AFC North Sleeper

  • Cincinnati Bengals (+184)

The Bengals qualify as the AFC North sleeper because their offensive ceiling remains much higher than their recent record suggests. Cincinnati has missed the playoffs three consecutive seasons, but Joe Burrow gives the team an elite foundation when healthy. In four of his five full seasons, the Bengals have produced a top-10 passing offense, while Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins have combined for more than 10,000 receiving yards and 80 touchdowns since entering the league, forming one of football's most dangerous receiver duos.

The running game does not need to become dominant, but improved efficiency would help Cincinnati stay ahead of the chains, limit obvious passing situations and protect Burrow. Raising early-down success, reducing negative plays and improving red-zone touchdown rate would matter more than raw rushing volume. Even a modest increase in yards per carry and first-down rate could create additional possessions and keep the offense from relying on Burrow in high-leverage passing situations.

The larger problem has been the defense. Cincinnati has allowed too many explosive plays, struggled to generate pressure and failed to get off the field consistently on third down. Those weaknesses have inflated opponent yards per play and extended drives, leaving Burrow and the offense with little margin for error. A defense that ranks near the bottom in pressure rate and third-down conversion rate cannot consistently support a contender, regardless of quarterback quality.

Despite quarterback instability last season, Cincinnati still averaged 24.4 points per game and scored 414 points, 12th in the NFL, while converting 43.4% of third downs.

Defensive efficiency

The offense was already playoff-caliber; the defense wasn't. Cincinnati allowed 28.9 PPG, 30th in the league. Even a move from bottom-three defense to league average, paired with similar offensive production, could turn several losses into wins and put the Bengals squarely in the AFC North race.

That is why the offseason emphasis was defensive. The Bengals do not need a top-five unit; a league-average defense could significantly change their outlook. Improving sack and pressure rates, limiting gains of 20-plus yards and raising red-zone stop percentage could translate into several additional wins. Turning even a few stalled drives into punts would materially improve Cincinnati's expected point differential and late-game flexibility.

There is also reason for optimism. Before this three-year playoff drought, Cincinnati reached consecutive AFC Championship games, including a Super Bowl appearance, with Burrow at quarterback. The core formula remains intact: protect Burrow and field an average defense. If Cincinnati accomplishes both, its offensive firepower gives the Bengals a legitimate chance to make an AFC North championship run.

AFC North Favorite/Prediction

  • Baltimore Ravens (-112)

The Ravens are the pick to win the AFC North because their underlying numbers suggest last season's 8-9 finish was more disappointment than decline. Baltimore still possessed one of the NFL's most difficult offenses to defend, built around a rushing attack that consistently creates favorable down-and-distance situations and explosive plays. The Ravens have finished among the NFL's top three in rushing in seven consecutive seasons, an enormous advantage in a division traditionally decided by physicality and late-season football.

The biggest opportunity for improvement comes defensively. Baltimore slipped to 18th in scoring defense and 24th in total defense last season, significant declines for a franchise accustomed to finishing near the top of the league. Even returning that unit to league average would create a much better complement to an offense capable of controlling possession and producing explosive plays.

Baltimore also has the strongest recent divisional track record. The Ravens have posted double-digit victories in five of the last seven seasons and won the AFC North twice in the last three years before Pittsburgh narrowly took the crown in 2025. That matters because Baltimore doesn't require a massive statistical leap, but merely regression toward its established standard.

Quite a rush

The biggest carryover for this team is its dominant rushing efficiency. The Ravens rushed for 2,662 yards, 156.6 per game and 5.2 yards per carry in 2025, finishing second in the NFL in rushing yards.

That matters because efficient rushing travels, controls game script and reduces quarterback exposure. Baltimore went only 8-9 despite owning a +26 point differential, suggesting it performed more like a winning team than its record indicates.

The analytics point toward a rebound: elite rushing efficiency, high-end quarterback production, improved defensive pressure and better performance in close games. If the defense moves back toward the top half of the league while the offense maintains its efficiency, Baltimore owns the most complete statistical profile in the North.

After losing the division on a missed 44-yard field goal in the final seconds of Week 18, the gap was already razor thin. A modest defensive rebound should be enough to flip it back. The Ravens are the team to beat in the AFC North.
