2026-27 NFL Betting Odds: NFC East Best Bets & Predictions

Key Points
  • The Philadelphia Eagles are favored to win the NFC East according to DraftKings.
  • All four teams in the division have +600 odds or better at this point in the preseason.
  • There are plenty of X-Factors that could change the shape of the division race including John Harbaugh's arrival with the New York Giants.

For more than two decades, the NFC East had been the NFL's division of parity, producing a different champion every year. Then the Philadelphia Eagles finally broke the cycle. After becoming the first NFC East team since their own 2003-04 clubs to win consecutive division titles, Philadelphia enters 2026 chasing something even more imposing: a third straight crown.

But the Eagles' latest title came during a season in which nearly everything around them went wrong, and handed them division supremacy.

The Washington Commanders lost Jayden Daniels to injury, the Dallas Cowboys fielded a defense incapable of consistently keeping the Cowboys in games, and New York's dysfunction eventually resulted in Brian Daboll being fired during the season. Philadelphia took advantage, but it shouldn't expect the same collection of problems from its rivals this fall.

The division has undergone a significant reset. The New York Giants hired John Harbaugh with hopes that an accomplished, proven head coach can finally restore stability and make New York relevant again.

Washington's ceiling remains tied heavily to the health and development of Daniels, while Dallas enters another season needing its defense to complement an offense capable of keeping the Cowboys competitive.

What it means for the 2026 season?

That makes the NFC East considerably more intriguing than it appeared a year ago. Philadelphia remains the standard and the team everyone must catch, but its margin for error could be much smaller. The Eagles are attempting to establish sustained divisional dominance, while three rivals believe 2025 understated what they can become.

So, who deserves to enter 2026 as the NFC East favorite? Which team has the best chance to emerge as the sleeper? And, most importantly, who will actually win the division? Let's break down a race that should be far more competitive than the one Philadelphia controlled a year ago.

Here are three takes for the division (odds courtesy DraftKings):

NFC East Favorite

Philadelphia Eagles (+120)

There may not have been a more uncomfortable 11-win division champion in football last season than Philadelphia. The Eagles spent much of their Super Bowl defense dealing with questions about the offense, Jalen Hurts, and whether their core was still aligned. Yet, despite the noise, they still went 11-6, won the NFC East, and outscored opponents by 54 points.

That alone is the strongest case for making them the favorite again. Even a down year from Philadelphia was better than anything the rest of the division produced.

The offense was the clear issue. The Eagles fell to 19th in scoring (22.3 points per game) and 24th in total offense, a steep drop for a roster built around Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and a strong offensive line. Hurts, however, was still efficient, completing 64.8% of his passes for 3,224 yards, 25 touchdowns, and six interceptions, with a 98.5 passer rating.

The real problem was the lack of consistent explosiveness, especially from Barkley. After rushing for 2,005 yards in 2024, he dropped to 1,140 yards and 4.1 yards per carry in 2025, impacted by injuries and a less dominant offensive line. The good news is that the Eagles return their core front — Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, and Lane Johnson — giving Barkley a strong chance to rebound.

Philadelphia also made a key coaching change, replacing offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo with Sean Mannion, who is expected to add more under-center looks, motion, and wide-zone concepts to simplify the offense. The team also continues to lean on its highly efficient Brotherly Shove in short-yardage situations.

Defense Will Be Key For Eagles

The biggest stabilizer, however, remains Vic Fangio’s defense.

The Eagles allowed just 19.1 points per game (5th in the NFL) and 189.8 passing yards per game (8th), giving them a defensive floor few teams can match. That matters in a division where no rival has a comparable unit.

The defense is also loaded with young talent. Jalen Carter, Cooper DeJean, Zack Baun, and Quinyon Mitchell all ranked among the NFL’s Top 100 players entering 2026, forming a strong core across all levels of the defense. Even with some turnover and injury concerns, the unit remains elite.

There are valid concerns. Hurts is adjusting to another system, Barkley is coming off a down year, A.J. Brown is gone, and longtime line coach Jeff Stoutland is no longer in place.

But if Mannion can lift the offense into the league’s middle tier while Fangio’s defense stays elite, Philadelphia doesn’t need a major leap to win the division again.

That’s the key difference in the NFC East. Dallas, Washington, and New York need multiple things to break right. The Eagles just need average offensive improvement to return to dominance.

For a team that won the division during a down offensive year, that’s more than enough reason to call Philadelphia the favorite again.

The NFC East Sleeper

New York Giants (+600)

The Giants are rebuilding their identity under John Harbaugh, whose old-school approach emphasizes conditioning, physicality and accountability. After going 4-13 last season and 7-27 over the past two years, New York needs a cultural overhaul as much as a personnel one.

Yet the Giants weren't as bad as their 2025 record suggests. They scored 22.4 points per game, but allowed 25.8, and their underlying performance produced an expected record of 7.1-9.9 — roughly three victories better than their actual finish. That's one reason Harbaugh's emphasis on situational football could produce immediate results.

The roster also has legitimate building blocks. Brian Burns exploded for 16.5 sacks and three forced fumbles, nearly doubling his 8.5 sacks from 2024. If New York can generate pressure without blitzing heavily, Harbaugh has the foundation for a much more efficient defense.

Jaxson Dart and the NYG offense

The bigger upside comes from Jaxson Dart's second season. As a rookie, Dart completed 63.7% of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and only five interceptions, producing a solid 91.7 passer rating. He also added 487 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, giving New York a dual-threat dimension. His challenge is avoiding negative plays after taking 35 sacks and improving when forced into obvious passing situations; his passer rating dropped to 69.4 on attempts beyond his 30th of a game.

With Malik Nabers providing explosiveness and Cam Skattebo supplying the physical running style Harbaugh prefers, the formula doesn't require Dart to become a superstar. Run efficiently, stay ahead of the chains, limit turnovers and let the defense attack.

That's why New York is an intriguing NFC East sleeper. The Giants don't need to transform statistically from a bottom-feeder into an elite team. Their expected record already suggested they performed more like a seven-win team than a four-win team last season.

Harbaugh's job is closing that gap between performance and results. If better coaching, situational execution and Dart's development can turn some of last year's losses into wins, the Giants have enough young talent to make the jump from NFC East afterthought to legitimate threat.

My NFC East Prediction

Dallas Cowboys (+215)

The Cowboys haven't won a Super Bowl in 30 years, but Jerry Jones has finally shifted his approach after consecutive seasons without a playoff appearance. The 2026 overhaul focused almost entirely on fixing the team’s biggest weakness: defense.

Dallas went 7-9-1, but the record hides an elite offense and a disastrous defense. The Cowboys ranked second in total offense (6,663 yards) and seventh in scoring (27.7 PPG), while the defense allowed an NFL-worst 30.1 points per game, finishing 30th in yards allowed and 32nd in pass efficiency.

The case for Dallas in the NFC East is simple: they don’t need a full rebuild, but rather a competent defense.

Dak Prescott remains the engine, throwing for 4,552 yards, 30 TDs, 10 INTs, with a 99.5 passer rating. The offense averaged 5.9 yards per play, with strong production from George Pickens (1,429 yards), CeeDee Lamb (1,077), and Javonte Williams (1,201 rushing yards).

Dallas scored 471 points but still finished under .500 because it allowed 511, while forcing only 12 turnovers and posting a minus-nine turnover differential.

That’s why the defensive overhaul matters.

Retooled Defense in Dallas

The Cowboys installed Christian Parker as defensive coordinator and shifted to a 3-4 scheme, potentially featuring seven new starters, including veterans like Rashan Gary, Jalen Thompson, and Von Miller, who brings 138.5 career sacks.

Early signs are mixed but slightly encouraging. Dallas improved from a 109.6 defensive passer rating in 2025 to 88.8 in its preseason opener, and cut down missed tackles significantly.

The key takeaway is simple: Dallas doesn’t need a top-five defense, just league average. With an elite offense already in place, that alone could push them into double-digit wins.

Philadelphia might seem like the safer pick with its consistency and defense, but Dallas has the highest upside in the division.

If Parker can stabilize the defense while Prescott maintains elite production, the Cowboys have the ceiling to win the NFC East.
