2026 FIFA World Cup Best Bets (July 11): Argentina vs. Switzerland, England vs. Norway Odds & Prediction

Publish Date: Jul 11, 2026

Key Points
  • Defending World Cup champion Argentina faces Switzerland in a quarterfinal match on Saturday evening in Kansas City as the favorites.
  • England and Norway play in a FIFA World Cup quarterfinals match at 5 p.m. ET in Miami.
  • Both matches can be seen live on FOX, FOX ONE, Telemundo, and Peacock.

For the last time in this World Cup, we have two matches on the same day Saturday: Argentina vs Switzerland in the primetime game; and Norway vs England in the early game.

The storylines abound in these matches: Argentina trying to repeat; England attempting to win the Cup for the first time in 60 years; Switzerland seeking its first-ever appearance in the semifinals; ditto for Norway.

England forward Harry Kane (9) calls to a teammate in the first half during the friendly soccer match between England and Costa Rica on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

You won't want to miss these two matches on Saturday, when spots in the semifinals are on the line as teams inch closer to the grand prize at the FIFA World Cup.

World Cup Odds for Saturday, July 11

I went 0-for-2 on my Best Bets on Friday, thanks to that single goal scored by Belgium (ouch). I'm now down two units for my World Cup wagers.

World Cup Best Bets Today: Argentina vs Switzerland (July 11)

Before you rush to submit your betting ticket on Argentina, stop to realize this: Switzerland has not trailed in this World Cup. The Swiss didn't even trail in their World Cup qualifier matches. This is a team that can beat Argentina and ageless wonder Lionel Messi.

To win this match, Switzerland must contain the dynamic Argentina offense, which has scored at least two goals in 11 consecutive World Cup matches. The strategy will likely be to widen the field for Argentina's midfielders, stretching them farther away from Messi, making the passing lanes longer and easier to jump by Switzerland.

Argentina has a clean roster bill of health, but the Swiss are probably going to be without Johan Manzambi, who has three goals in the tournament, but also has a sore leg. That health advantage will be a factor, as Switzerland has scored three goals in a 4-2-3-1 with Manzabi this tournament, and only had two shots on target without him as the 10 in that setup.

Key Stats for this match

  • Switzerland has not trailed in any of its matches in this World Cup.
  • Argentina has scored at least two goals in 11 straight World Cup matches.
  • Switzerland has not conceded a goal in regulation in the knockout phase.
  • Argentina's 11.91 xG is the third-highest in this tournament, trailing only France and Spain.
  • Switzerland ranks second-to-last among the 48 World Cup teams in Crossing Accuracy Percentage, at 15%.

With a hampered Manzabi or without him at all, Switzerland will have difficulty putting together a cohesive offensive attack. While Argentina is far from a great defensive team, this team has proven it can put a crooked number on the scoreboard and advance. That's just what I expect on Saturday night.

  • Argentina Over 1.5 Goals (-109, DraftKings)

World Cup Best Bets Today: Norway vs England (July 11)

Oddsmakers price Norway at +280 to win in 90 minutes, and +160 to advance in any fashion. That doesn't ease the tensions of England fans who hope for the first title in six decades.

The Three Lions are a battle-tested group. England has made five consecutive quarter-final appearances in major tournaments dating back to 2025. Winning tense, winner-take-all matches is in the DNA of Harry Kane and his colleagues.

Jarell Quansah will miss this match for England due to a red card. The other major absence is the injured Jordan Henderson, also of England, who will be sidelined with a wrist injury. Neither of those injuries will cripple the Three Lions, but it may make things slightly easier for Norway to bully its way in 1x1 battles for the ball.

Both of these teams control possession about half the time. This should be a game with shifting momentum. I expect more than a dozen Attempts on Target this match: England averages just over 6 per, and Norway averages just over 5 per match.

Key Stats for this match

  • This is the only match in the quarterfinals where each team has scored at least 10 goals in the World Cup: Norway with 12; and England with 11.
  • Each of Norway's five matches have gone over 2.5 goals scored. Those five matches have produced 21 goals (4 per)
  • Both teams have scored in 11 of the last 12 matches played by Norway.

If we get a penalty shootout, it will probably come after multiple goals are scored in the first 120. At least three goals have been put on the board in all of Norway's matches, and in three of England's five at the World Cup.

  • Over 2.5 Goals in 90 Minutes (-150, DraftKings)
