2026 FIFA World Cup Best Bets (June 24): Switzerland vs. Canada, Scotland vs. Brazil Odds & Predictions

Publish Date: Jun 24, 2026

Key Points
  • Mexico plays at home again having already wrapped up the first-place spot in Group A and a place in the knockout stage.
  • Canada and Switzerland play for the top spot in Group B in an afternoon match in Vancouver.
  • Brazil vs. Scotland has many implications on Group C, as three teams are vying for a place in the knockout stage.

Group Stage play is coming to a climax rapidly this week for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Today we have six matches on the schedule for the first time in the tournament, as Groups A, B, and C wrap up play.

Group A is essentially decided: Mexico has clinched the top position, and South Korea is almost cemented into the No. 2 spot. But in Groups B and C, intrigue remains. My best bets for Wednesday are from those two groups. The games are at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. ET.

FIFA World Cup Best Bets: Canada vs. Switzerland

One of our early matches features "America's Hat," the Canadian team, looking to wrap up its first-ever Group Stage top finish. It's Canada vs. Switzerland.

A win or a draw for Canada will place that nation as the No. 1 team in Group B. If Canada were to lose AND Bosnia and Herzegovina defeats Qatar, Canada could slip to third in the group if the goal differential is not in its favor. It's a longshot, but it could happen.

The best way to remember the scenario here is that regardless which nation wins this match, Canada and Switzerland are most likely to finish 1-2 in some order in this group.

Note: if Canada and Switzerland draw, it eliminates Bosnia and Qatar. That's an important factor, especially if this match is tied in the second half. Both teams may concede a draw.

Switzerland can hang with Canada

The Swiss have been one of the most productive offenses in this World Cup. The team has a 5.26 xG (expected goals) figure, based on a whopping 39 shots on goal, with five goals. Only five teams have scored more in this tournament. The last time on the pitch, Switzerland scored four goals.

  • Switzerland vs. Canada, Draw (+205, DraftKings)

FIFA World Cup Best Bets: Scotland vs. Brazil

Phew! There are many scenarios that could emerge depending on how the match between Brazil and Scotland pans out. One the one hand, if Brazil wins and Morocco loses or draws, it wins Group C. But if Morocco wins its match, Brazil is not safe. On the other hand, Scotland has many, many ways to advance to the knockout stage, even if it loses. For example, if Scotland loses to Brazil by one goal, it has a 94% chance to advance (per DraftKings). If Scotland wins, it's on to the knockout stage. Even if the Scots lose by two goals, their chance of advancing is 83%.

Having said all of that, Brazil is likely seeing this match as a must-win. That's because a Brazil loss and Morocco win could result in Brazil finishing third. A wrinkle: this year with more teams, the World Cup will advance eight third-place teams. Brazil (and Scotland) have a great opportunity to be one of those.

Scotland's offense didn't seem to come to America

In its first two games Scotland has scored one goal. Yet somehow, Scotland has a strong chance to advance to the knockout stage, even if it loses today's match to Brazil. It's stellar defense could be an asset considering goals allowed may be the reason the Scots move on to play again after Wednesday.

The fifth-ranked team in the world, Brazil is perilously close to being humbled to a second or even third-place finish. The team also has an excellent defense, allowing only one goal. But its depth is better in regards to scorers with big legs. In contrast, Scotland made six shots on goal with ZERO on target.

I expect Brazil to win a low-scoring match, with my wager at $100 on the total goals:

  • Scotland vs Brazil, Under 2.5 Goals (+105, DraftKings)
