2026 NBA Finals: Spurs vs. Knicks Game 2 Best Bets & Odds (June 5)

Publish Date: Jun 05, 2026

Key Points
  • Wednesday’s loss marks the first time the San Antonio Spurs have lost Game 1 of an NBA Finals series.
  • The Spurs are 3-3 in Game 2s in the NBA Finals.
  • San Antonio has never trailed in an NBA Finals series; the only time it had prior to losing Game 1 was when it lost Game 7 to the Miami Heat in 2013.

The 2026 NBA Finals continue tonight with Game 2 between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs. Tip-off at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EST. If Game 1 is any indication, fans are in for another exciting game between two great teams.

However, while that sounds great from a fan’s perspective, what about the betting angle? Will the Knicks continue to roll through the postseason and get a step closer to winning the franchise’s first NBA title in 53 years? Or will San Antonio bounce back and tie the series up at a game apiece before the series shifts to Madison Square Garden?

All good questions. Let’s see if we can come up with some answers as I pick my best bets for Game 2 between the Spurs and Knicks.

Fans of the Spurs had good reason not to be too concerned about any perceived rest disadvantage for their team heading into Game 1. Throughout the season, San Antonio had gone 17-3 in games where it was at a rest disadvantage. That number is a bit less lopsided when you factor in the spread (13-7 ATS). But that’s okay. They aren’t concerned with how much their team wins by, just that they come out with the victory.

The stats were not as favorable for the Knicks with a rest advantage, but still favorable (16-6 SU, 13-9 ATS). After watching Victor Wembanyama look tired against the Thunder at times, Game 1 was certainly the time to strike for them, which they did.

But it’s just one game, right? How much can one game mean in the big picture? Well, history certainly favors teams that win Game 1 in a best-of-seven series. Over the years, those teams have gone on to win their respective series 77.6% of the time. That number drops a tad in reference to the NBA Finals: 69.6% (55-24).

Factor in the away team winning Game 1 (of a best-of-seven series), and it gets a little lower (51.1%, 68-65). So, home court advantage is now gone for San Antonio. But it can easily get it right back. All the Spurs need to do is win Game 2. If they do, from a historical perspective, they’ll have a 60% chance of winning the series (61-41).

But can they do it? Can the Spurs bounce back against a Knicks team that has won 12-in-row during the playoffs, of which 11 of those victories came by double digits? It will certainly be a tough task, but if the public is right, the answer is “yes.”

NBA Finals Best Bets: Spurs vs. Knicks Game 2 Picks

  • Knicks +5.5 (-102, DraftKings)

Since the line opened with the Spurs favored by 5.5 points (-205 moneyline), it has moved at several sportsbooks to 6.0 and 6.5 points (-218 to -245) back to 5.5. Such movement occurs when sportsbooks take a lot of action on the favored team. According to sports betting trackers, 71% of moneyline tickets are on the Spurs, but only 54% of the handle. But 58% of spread tickets are on the Knicks with 45% of the handle.

So, the public thinks the Spurs will win, but it will be a close game that the Knicks can win against the spread. I’m inclined to agree.

Yes, the Knicks have been playing incredible basketball on their historic playoff run powered by the likes of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby. But the competition hasn’t been all that tough compared to what San Antonio has faced. Not to take away from what they’ve done, but it’s one thing to flex on a team like the Cleveland Cavaliers and another to do so against the Spurs.

Besides, we’ve already seen San Antonio in a similar position. In Game 5, Wembanyama looked tired, like he wasn’t too eager to battle for control in the paint against the Thunder’s bigs. But after losing Game 5, he did just that in Games 6 and 7 of the series. Better yet, the rest of the team picked up the defensive intensity and dominated the last two games.

I think the Spurs will battle back and win Game 2, but the Knicks will not make it easy. I’ll take the Knicks and the points.

My Alternate Game 2 Picks

  • Knicks ML (+180, DraftKings)

At -218, there is no value in San Antonio’s moneyline. This series, this game is going to be too competitive for such a moneyline to be a bet I can recommend. However, at +180, after watching New York win Game 1, the Knicks moneyline absolutely has value. While I expect the Spurs to bounce back and win this one, considering how well the Knicks have played in the postseason, I wouldn’t fault anyone who takes New York to win.

  • Knicks, Second Half Total, Under 52.5 (-115, DraftKings)

San Antonio has been good about bouncing back in the postseason, especially on the defensive end of the court. However, I think the Knicks will be able to take some of their momentum into the first half of Game 2. But the Spurs will make the right adjustments at halftime and clamp down on the New York offense in the second half.
