The NBA Playoffs have given us a little bit of everything in round two. One series is over, one series is nearly over, and one series is tied at two games apiece. Then there's the Pistons, a No. 1 seed that finds itself in an epic fight with the Cavaliers.
Tonight we get Game 4 between Detroit and Cleveland in a Rust Belt battle of Michigan vs Ohio. This contest is the first game of a doubleheader, which will conclude with the Oklahoma City Thunder trying to sweep away the Los Angeles Lakers.

It could be easy to say the Pistons are the superior team and therefore Detroit is destined to move on to the Eastern Conference finals. Indeed, Detroit has held a lead in the fourth quarter in all three games. However, the Cavs have been at least tied in the fourth quarter in every game.
This series appears to be headed to seven games. That's fine by me: more chances to get my next big payout from a winning basketball bet.

The favorite is 2-1 on the ML in this playoff series.
The favorite is 2-1 Against The Spread.
Two of the three games in this series thus far have gone UNDER. Game 3 went OVER.
The Pistons lost Game 3, despite clawing back to take a lead at about the 4-minute mark in the fourth quarter. That means I like the odds for the OVER on Monday. In six of the last eight times the Pistons have lost, in the following game the over has hit.
Detroit's Cade Cunningham is on a shooting binge: 41 shots taken the last two games. In both games, Cunningham has bullied his way into carrying the load in the fourth quarter. But in Game 3, the Detroit star was a disappointing 10-for-27 from the field. He also turned the ball over eight times. Yes, EIGHT TIMES. In fact, Cunningham nearly had a quadruple double in Game 3: 27 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 8 turnovers.
Expect Cunningham to be much more efficient in Game 4, as he is forced to match Donovan Mitchell. The Cleveland guard has scored 30+ points in the last two games. Mitchell also had 10 boards.
In nine of Cleveland's last 14 games, the over has hit. Tonight, I suspect a spirited second half with oodles of points, and possibly even overtime. But the OVER bet is only good for regulation, where I suspect these teams will exceed a modest 213.5 points.
Cunningham's average for Points + Assists in the regular season was 33.8. In the playoffs it's boosted to 37.9. His 30 PPG average is the highest in the NBA Playoffs.

Odds on this 4-leg Same Game Parlay are +700 from BetMGM.
Mitchell is averaging more than 30 PPG this series, and 25.1 PPG in these playoffs overall. The 20-point barrier should be easy for the Cavs superstar.
Robinson is averaging nearly nine 3-point attempts per game in his last 5 games. He's made at least four 3-pointers in four of his last five games.
Detroit's Jalen Duren is still seeking space and touch to get his points in the postseason. But his defense and rebounding remains at his high standards. Duren was held to four boards in Game 3, but before that he was averaging 11.5 per game in his previous four playoff contests. He should pull down 10 boards in Game 4.
Tobias Harris is averaging 29 P+R in the playoffs, and remains one of the most underrated players left in the postseason.
I'm going one-half unit ($50) on this NBA parlay.
Try as they might, the top-seeded Pistons can't avoid drama in the postseason. Last season it was a drawn out series against the Knicks, in which Detroit actually outplayed its opponent, but lost three games by a combined score of six points.
This season, the Pistons had to dig out of a 3-1 hole against Orlando. Now, after two gritty wins against Cleveland to open this series, the Pistons are back to "sloppy ball," and are on the verge of falling into a knot with the Cavs.
I see another game decided in the last few possessions. This time an overtime game where the Cavaliers muster the resources to tie this series.
