March Madness continues with some second-round action between the Baylor Bears and the Clemson Tigers. Both teams are coming off of dominant victories in the first round of the tournament and are going to battle it out for a spot in the Sweet 16 in this Sunday showdown in Memphis. We take a look at this marquee matchup to make a Baylor-Clemson prediction and pick.
Baylor (24-10) took it to the No. 14-seeded Colgate Raiders who they decimated 92-67 covering the lofty -14.5 spread. The Bears were shooting lights out in that game, shooting 58% from the floor and hitting daggers from 3-point land at a 53% clip (16-30). It was Jalen Bridges who led the charge in that game ending up with a team-high 23 points to go along with five rebounds.
It will be the tandem of Bridges and Jakobe Walter who will need to put the team on their back if they will look to advance to the Sweet 16 in this matchup against Clemson.
Clemson (22-11) was disrespected on the betting lines as they were a 2-point underdogs to the New Mexico Lobos and they didn't take too kindly to that. The Tigers came out guns blazing taking it to the Lobos and dominating them from start to finish by beating them by a score of 77-56 blowing past the spread.
Chase Hunter was the Tigers leading scorer with 21 points in 31 minutes but it was a collective unit as others like Ian Schiefflien (16 pts, 12 rebs), and PJ Hall (14 pts) helped secure victory. The Tigers will need another strong outing from their unit when they take on a much tougher opponent in the Baylor Bears as they look to advance to the Sweet 16 in this Sunday matchup.

The Baylor Bears came into the tournament with just one win in their last three games and didn't look like the team that many believed they'd be coming into this year's March Madness. They quickly reminded the doubters who they are by coming out and dominating the No. 14-seeded Colgate Raiders.
Now, the Bears get to do one better and that is to take out the Clemson Tigers to take their spot in the Sweet 16. Baylor ranks 26th in the nation averaging 81.5 points per game, 20th in FG% with 48.9%, and 7th in 3PT% with 39.8% which was on full display when they put up a whopping 92 points in round one of the tournament.
They also defend the glass very well with an average of +7.3 rebound differential on a game-to-game basis.
The combination of Jakobe Walter and Jalen Bridges will be the deciding factor in this game against the Clemson Tigers. They put on a show in their first-round matchup and they will certainly need to continue their dominance in this Sunday matchup. As long as they can kickstart this Baylor offense they can keep things humming and get past this Clemson squad and their spot in the Sweet 16.
The Clemson Tigers were 2-point underdogs to the New Mexico Lobos and quickly showed that betting line to horrendously incorrect by blowing out the Lobos by 21 points. There wasn't much confidence in the Tigers coming into the tournament as they dropped two in a row, even losing a -7.5 favorite against Boston College in the ACC tournament.
However, they were put in the rearview mirror and defied the odds to get the big win and advance to the second round of the tournament.
Now the Tigers get to take on a much stiffer competition in the Baylor Bears but it isn't too far-fetched to see a potential upset in this matchup. Clemson's star Center PJ Hall picked up where he left off in the regular season by scoring 14 points but it was Chase Hunter (21 pts) and Ian Schiefflin (16 pts, 12 rebs) that stepped up and made a difference.
If this trio is on just like they were against the Lobos they are going to make it a rough time for the Baylor Bears and could potentially score the upset and punch their ticket to the Sweet 16.
Expect this game to be closely contested in the early going but as it moves into the second half that is when the Baylor Bears start to pull away. The Bears have done well ATS on the season with a 17-10-3 record leading me to believe they will be able to do enough down the stretch to drown the Tigers and pull away with a dominant victory and a spot in the Sweet 16.
FINAL BAYLOR-CLEMSON PREDICTION & PICK: BAYLOR BEARS -4.5 (-110)
