It is another busy day for college basketball fans with 50+ games on the schedule. If you want to bet on each one, by all means, that is a choice you are free to make. However, if you’d rather target a few specific games, then check out our “NCAA Basketball Best Bets” list for January 28.
I’ll present them in the form of my best parlay pick for the day because who doesn’t love a chance to win more money, right? But each pick will have the individual odds for that leg listed, so bet on them (or don’t) as you see fit.

Houston (17-2, 5-1 Big 12) is coming off its first conference loss of the season and second defeat of the year in what was an unusually high-scoring game for the Cougars (90-86 vs. Texas Tech). The defense, typically one of the best in the nation, will want to reassert itself against a decent but lackluster TCU offense (11th in the Big 12).
TCU (13-7, 3-4) has been competitive at times but has fallen short against ranked opponents (1-4 vs. AP top 25 teams). It has played well at home (9-4, 2-1) but has struggled in conference play. The Horned Frogs don’t have the talent or depth to keep up with Houston for a full game.

St. John’s has won six in a row since its last loss, including a win over Butler, 84-70. The last time it played was Saturday when the Red Storm(15-5, 8-1 Big East) defeated Xavier 88-83 on the road. As for Butler, the Bulldogs will take a three-game win streak into this game, beating Marquette at home last Friday, 87-76.
Butler (13-7, 4-5) played St. John’s to a tie in the first half in the previous meeting, only to get blown out and lose by 14 in the end. But the Bulldogs have been playing much better since then and will put up more of a fight. Enough of a fight to win? Probably not, but they’ll keep it close
Before a loss to Auburn on Saturday, 76-67, the Gators (14-6, 5-2 SEC) had been on a roll with wins in their previous five games, including victories over No. 18 Georgia, No. 21 Tennessee, and No. 10 Vanderbilt. They scored at least 90 points in four of the five wins and held four of five opponents to 79 points or less.
As for South Carolina, it is simply out of its depth for this one. The Gamecocks (11-9, 2-5) have lost five of their last seven games (SEC play), most recently to Texas A&M on Saturday, 92-69. But they have played well enough to keep it competitive in the first half. Yet the Gators will pull away in the second half, easily covering the spread.
A $100 wager will result in a $690 payday, your stake plus $590 in winnings.
