The Indiana Fever hopes to recover quickly from a heartbreaking loss while the Seattle Storm looks to build on their momentum as both teams collide on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at the Climate Pledge Arena.
Cat-quick guard Jewell Lloyd paced the offense with 16 points while former league Most Valuable Player Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins-Smith added 13 each respectively for the Storm, which snapped a two-game losing skid.
The Storm will be taking on a Fever squad that is coming off a gut-wrenching defeat to the Chicago Sky.
Indiana will need all the help they can get to return to the win column as they take on a Seattle team that has beaten them twice this season. Will Seattle continue its run of success against Indiana or will the Fever finally get over the hump and score that elusive win?
Let’s look at how the Indiana Fever vs. Seattle Storm betting lines stand.
Indiana Fever Injury Report
Seattle Storm Injury Report
Indiana heads into the match against Seattle as eight-point underdogs, for a good reason. The Storm has beaten twice this season with the last being a 15-point defeat.
But the Fever is a completely different team the last time they faced Seattle as evident in their wins against the Dream and the Mystics.
The Fever, in fact, beat teams by an average margin of 8.5 points during that four-game win run.
Sweet-shooting guards Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell are expected to carry the scoring cudgels for the Indiana Fever along with forward Aaliyah Boston, who is a constant double-double threat every night.
Indiana has also gotten some strong support despite the absence of Temi Fagbenle with forward Nalyssa Smith pouring in 11.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Against Chicago, Smith was phenomenal, dropping 12 points and seven rebounds in 28 minutes of action.
The Seattle Storm returned to the win column in style, beating the powerhouse Connecticut Sun 72-61 on Sunday. After being down early, the Storm went on a scoring barrage in the second quarter and never looked back to secure their first win since June 11.
They will lock horns with an Indiana team they have dominated throughout this season.
This time, the Storm will be playing in front of their home fans. All season long, the Storm has been pretty good in the Emerald City, boasting a 5-1 (win-loss) card when playing at home.
Despite the absence of MacKenzie Holmes, the Storm has been getting production from multiple players with Jewell Lloyd, Nneka Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins-Smith, and Ezi Magbegor all averaging in double figures.
Indiana is expected to bank on those four to deliver this Thursday and continue their winning momentum when it takes on an Indiana squad raring to get back into the win column.
The Seattle Storm covering the spread is not yet a foregone conclusion, especially now that the Indiana Fever has gained some sort of confidence and is learning to string along victories in succession.
That said, I’m going on the over-under markets and hammering the over 166.5 at -110 in this game.
Scoring has been second nature for both of these teams with Seattle ranked fourth in the league at 83.1 ppg and Indiana in the sixth spot at 80.5 ppg. In their past two meetings, both teams also combined for an average total of 179.5 points.
If that is not good enough, both teams are also shooting above 40% from the field this season and within 30% from the three-point territory, which means they have players who can score in successive fashion more quickly than others, making the over 166.5 a value bet at these current odds.
