Much is being made of the fact that for only the second time all four No. 1 seeds have advanced to the Final Four in March Madness. The only other occurrence came in 2008, also at the Alamodome in San Antonio, deep in the heart of Texas, as they sing.
CBS and the NCAA can only hope this year's Final Four is as exciting as it was in 2008. A blueblood is present: the Duke Blue Devils.

In addition, two rim-rattling teams are on the court in Auburn and Houston, neither of which has won a national championship.
National semifinal games are Saturday, with the four top seeds battling for a chance to get to battle for "the natty."
Odds used for our Game Prop bets are from BetRivers Sportsbook.
In each of its last two NCAA tourney games, the Cougars have combined with opponents for an average 118.5 points. Houston is physical: in the pain and at the perimeter.
On Saturday, Duke will get bullied, and they will be forced to earn every point they get.
The Blue Devils are going to have to shoot phenomenally from beyond the three-point line to push this score over 130 points. That's because the Cougars are going to squeeze every second they can out of every possession.
Houston is superb at making its opponent play its style and pace of basketball. Odds from BetRivers betting app have it at +155 for these two teams to be under 130.
The Gators are a remarkably consistent offensive team. Florida has scored 80+ points in 31 games in the 2024-25 season, including in 10 of its last 11 games.
You will need to toss in some cash to be a winner on this prop ($127 to win $100), but it's a very strong prop bet market for this Final Four game.
For those on the other side, the Tigers have allowed 80+ points in only seven of 37 games.
You don't realize how great the Houston men's basketball team is. This season, the Cougars have lost four times. The last time was February 1, when Houston lost by a single point on overtime to Texas Tech.
Two of their other three defeats were also in overtime, one to highly ranked Alabama, which was only recently eliminated from this tournament.
The Cougars have not lost a game by more than five points since March 16 of 2024, in a meaningless contest against Iowa State that decided the Big 12 title.
That includes eight wins over ranked teams, on the road, at home, on neutral floors. The Cougars are very, very good.
We aren't sure if Kelvin Sampson will lead his team to an upset win over Duke on Saturday evening. But, we don't expect it to be decided by more than a few points.
Grab 3.5 points and take Houston: your $100 will win $118.
The 2008 NCAA Men’s Final Four, held in San Antonio, was one of the most iconic in college basketball history—not only for its electric atmosphere but because, for the first time ever, all four No. 1 seeds reached the Final Four.
Kansas, Memphis, North Carolina, and UCLA made up a dream quartet of college basketball powerhouses, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown.
Kansas stunned North Carolina with a blistering 40–12 start, ultimately winning 84–66 behind Brandon Rush and Mario Chalmers.
In the other semifinal, Memphis, led by dynamic freshman Derrick Rose and sharpshooting Chris Douglas-Roberts, ended UCLA’s hopes 78–63, overcoming Kevin Love and Darren Collison in a physical battle.
Memphis led by nine with two minutes left, but missed free throws opened the door. With just seconds remaining, Chalmers drilled a legendary three-pointer to send the game into overtime.
The 2008 Final Four was stacked with future NBA talent—Derrick Rose, Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, Brandon Rush, Mario Chalmers, and others would all go on to long professional careers.
The tournament combined elite talent, dramatic comebacks, and a storybook ending in one unforgettable weekend.
San Antonio was the perfect backdrop for a Final Four that still ranks among the greatest ever played.
The remaining three games in March Madness will all be broadcast live on CBS via CBS Sports. The national championship game is scheduled for Monday, April 7 at 8:50 PM EDT.
