Nuggets (+120) at NY Knicks
The spread is three points for this matchup between two of the NBA’s most puzzling teams. The Knicks struggled earlier in January, but have righted its ship to get back on a four-game winning streak. That includes impressive thrashings of the Kings and Grizzlies.
On the other side, the Nuggets are world-beaters on their home floor, but just 14-10 on the road. Tonight they host the Knicks as three-point favorites. But we are putting our money on the Knicks and Karl-Anthony Towns to win on the moneyline. Your successful $100 bet on the NYK to win would pay out $120.
OKC Thunder (-13, +130) at Warriors
The second game of the ESPN NBA doubleheader tonight pits the Thunder against the Warriors. It’s new against old, emerging dynasty against aging has-beens.
Smart money is on the Thunder to roll to a big win tonight in San Francisco. Only one of the Thunder’s last 10 wins has come by fewer than 10 points. In its last four road victories, OKC has won by an average of 23 points.
Find the “Alternative Point Spread” odds in the Fliff mobile sports betting app. Select OKC -13 points, and wager the amount you have in your budget. The odds are +130, which means for every $100 you bet, your winnings are $130.
Pistons (+6.5, -115) vs Pacers
One of the NBA’s most exciting teams are the scrappy Detroit Pistons. Their story is amazing: from a record-tying losing streak last season to a possible playoff spot this season. How is this possible? Cade Cunningham is a big piece of the Piston puzzle.
Cunningham is stamping himself as an NBA superstar this season: 25 PPG, 9 APG, and 6 RPG will do that. In many of Detroit’s wins, Cunningham is the middle of whatever it takes: scoring a big bucket or dishing the assist that puts his teammates in position to make an impact. The guard is one of the few NBA stars who handles the basketball frequently AND gets into the paint to grab boards with his athleticism, while also scoring loads of points. Cunningham recently topped the 1,000-point mark, making him one of the NBA’s scariest offensive threats.
This is the fourth meeting this season between these two rivals. Previously, the road team has won each time. That trend will continue on Wednesday: the Pistons (23-23) are playing to cap a successful 3-2 road trip.
Expect Cunningham and Co. to eke out the road win in Indy. But we’ll take the 6.5 points, thank you very much, on house-friendly -115 odds.
Cleveland Cavaliers (-11, +155) at Miami Heat
If the Cavaliers win an NBA title without LeBron James, will they still cry tears of joy like they did when he guided them to their so-far only championship? It doesn’t really matter, does it?
But what does matter is the fact that the Cavs are loaded with
Cleveland has dropped three of its last four games on the road. But we like the Cavs to topple the Heat in Miami, on the alternative point spread market: -11 points at a cool +155. Those odds make us happy to drop $100 on Cleveland as road winners Wednesday night in south Florida.

The Heat (23-22) are an absolute mess. The team has the talent to compete with any team in the Eastern Conference, but a general malaise has settled over the roster. The big issue is Jimmy Butler, the selfish superstar who doesn’t care where he gets his next paycheck as long as it’s not signed by Miami team president Pat Riley.
The man who coined the phrase “threepeat” has suspended Butler three times this season, and we’re not even to the All-Star break. On Wednesday, give up points and lay a wager on the mighty Cavs to defeat Miami (sans Butler).
