One month of the 2024-25 NBA season is in the books, and we know more about which teams are pretenders and which are contenders. Tonight we focus on three games pitting six western conference teams.
Our picks today include odds on the Lakers, Timberwolves, and Jazz. We also make a player prop for the tallest and most talented superstar in the sport.
All odds are from Fliff, the social betting app you can download for Android or Apple devices. You'll find odds on the NHL, NFL, college hoops and college football, and more.
It’s hard to pin down the Lakers, who followed a six-game winning streak with a pair of losses at home. The Suns are one of the best three-point shooting teams in the league, and the Lakers are one of the worst. The Lakers play decent interior defense, but the Suns turn the ball over.
We expect the Lakers to keep flipping the script: which means a road win to halt their skid.
So far this season we’re 11-9 on alternate point spread bets. The Timberwolves are a team that can be red hot or ice cold. Though they have a mediocre 8-8 record, the Timberwolves have four wins of at least 10 points or more.
The Rockets are 8-3 at home, but only 4-3 on the road. They are also playing their fourth game in seven days. Tale the +120 from Fliff and give up six points on the Wolves.
After losing their first five games at home, the Jazz have been victorious in their last two in Salt Lake City. They measured the Spurs only a week ago, and played a tough game. We like Utak (4-12) on the threeway moneyline at +120 from Fliff sports betting app. That means they can win or tie in regulation, and our $100 Fluff bet would win.
In his last five games, Victor Wembanyama has averaged 32.2 points, and he’s showing how his outside game can devastate opposing defenses. Wemby is shooting 44.4 percent from beyond the three-point line, averaging five triples per game over his last five games. The Spurs are 3-2 over that span.
The Jazz are 25th out of 30 NBA teams in opponents' shooting percentage, and that means Wembanyama can float and fire from deep or anywhere else on the court essentially uncontested. That’s why we think Wemby will score at least 30 points. A winning wager of $100 would bring in $255, counting your stake.
