After months of speculation, the Arizona Cardinals are moving on from quarterback Kyler Murray. In this article, I will discuss the next team betting odds and which team is the favorite to land the gunslinger.

In 2019, Murray was torn between playing professional baseball and football, and ultimately chose the gridiron. A product of Oklahoma, Murray was selected No. 1 overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2019 NFL Draft. At the time, Arizona found its franchise quarterback. That was until injuries and subpar play hindered the quarterback's ability to reach a Super Bowl. Let's back up—after seven years with the franchise, Murray has played just one playoff game.
Murray led the Cardinals to the 2021 NFC Wild Card round, only to be defeated by the Los Angeles Rams, 34-11. In the outing, Murray delivered 19-of-34 passing attempts for 137 yards, two interceptions, and zero touchdowns.
Having played just three full seasons in his career, Murray last played 17 games in 2024, during which he completed 372-of-541 passing attempts, along with 3,851 passing yards, 21 passing touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Furthermore, he rushed for 572 yards and five touchdowns. Having finished 8-9 in a tough NFC West conference, the Cardinals were eliminated from playoff contention.
In that season, Murray ranked in the top 10 among NFL quarterbacks in several categories. That included rushing touchdowns (7), rushing yards (4), completion percentage (7), success rate percentage (8), and rush EPA (9).

Arguably, Murray's most efficient season of his career came in 2020, when he threw for 3,971 yards, and rushed for 819 yards. In addition, he recorded 26 passing touchdowns, 11 rushing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
Despite his best efforts, Murray was limited over the years due to a torn ACL, a foot injury, and hamstring problems. Additionally, he was plagued by shoulder injuries. Limited to 11 games in 2022 and eight in 2023, Murray suited up for just five games in 2025.
We all know the Call of Duty joke, but the marriage between Murray and the Cardinals appears over after a lack of consistent play, along with a playoff drought. What could have been with wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. never had the chance to develop. Notably, Murray connected with legendary receiver Larry Fitzgerald and was teammates with top stars such as Hollywood Brown, DeAndre Hopkins, Harrison Jr., and Trey McBride.
The question remains: does the good outweigh the bad when it comes to Murray? At 5'10", he's a bit undersized, but has shown his ability to perform as a two-way threat with his legs (though he's been limited since injuries). Described as mediocre at best, a player who can put up decent stats but has failed to make an impact on the winning side.
There's no question his height has limited his ability to scan the field, and he's folded in the biggest moments. Inconsistency is the theme, but he's failed to live up to the expectations. Plus, he's failed to thrive under pressure, and on several occasions, he has missed targets.
Even with weaknesses, Murray showed improvement in 2024 and has incredible talent throwing the ball, along with accuracy. This may be a chance to start fresh and thrive with another team. We've often seen this with Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, and Daniel Jones. Or, we've seen the opposite result with Geno Smith, Justin Fields, Deshaun Watson, and Russell Wilson over the years.
If Murray decides to stay in the NFL, he has gas left in the tank, and I would argue he has more talent than some NFL quarterbacks. Through 87 career games with Arizona, he's compiled 20,460 passing yards, 3,193 rushing yards, 121 passing touchdowns, 32 rushing tuddies, and 60 interceptions. Let's be honest, this is a former Heisman Trophy winner in college. A two-time Pro Bowler, Murray was named the NFL's 2019 Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Let's take a look at Murray's next team betting odds on DraftKings. Several teams have emerged as potential destinations to sign the quarterback.
With several NFL destinations possible, Murray is set to become an unrestricted free agent. This comes after the quarterback signed a five-year, $230.5 million contract with Arizona in 2022. Set to make $36.5 million next season, and was due a guaranteed salary of $19.5 million in 2027. In this case, there's a high probability that any given team can sign him under the veteran minimum. Just 28 years old, which team will take the chance on the gunslinger?
Now that he's free from his former team, Murray is free to sign with any NFL team. That said, Murray may not be in line for a massive payday just yet. He'll likely take the Darnold route and sign a one-year deal to prove himself. In Darnold's case, he earned a massive payday and a Super Bowl ring with the Seattle Seahawks after playing one season in Minnesota.
It's safe to say the Minnesota Vikings have been on a search to find their franchise quarterback for quite some time. While Daunte Culpepper, Fran Tarkenton, and Tommy Kramer have long been retired, the search continues.
The Vikings have had several quarterbacks over the last decade, ranging from Case Keenum, Sam Bradford, Joshua Dobbs, Carson Wentz, Teddy Bridgewater, Nick Mullens, and more. More notably, Darnold did his thing, but only stayed in Minnesota for one season.
Most notably, Kirk Cousins spent six seasons with the Vikings before signing with the Atlanta Falcons. Leading the franchise to two playoff runs, the franchise failed to win a Super Bowl.
Perhaps the biggest gamble was selecting former Michigan champion J.J. McCarthy No. 10 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. While initially named the backup to Darnold, he tore his meniscus, forcing him to miss the entire season. Named the starting quarterback last season, McCarthy was limited to just 10 games.
Maybe I haven't seen enough of McCarthy, but throwing for 1,632 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions is worrisome. Although finishing 9-8, this team has some serious talent in receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. While they are the favorites, does Kevin O'Connell's pass-first system fit Murray's play style?
I'm all for it if signing with the Vikings will help resurrect his career. If you placed $5 on Murray to land with Minnesota, the payout would be equivalent to $9.55.
At just 23 years old, I suspect McCarthy's playing days with the Vikings are limited if Murray chooses to sign with them. It's clear Minnesota needs an upgrade at quarterback, and the thought of Murray and Jefferson could be a lethal 1-2 punch. O'Connell is an offensive juggernaut–perhaps this is the perfect destination for Murray to restart his career.
There's no doubt that Jefferson had a down year and is still considered one of the most elite wide receivers in the game. Murray threw for a long of 88 and 80 yards in his first two years, signaling he may be the answer to Jefferson's success. In 2024, Murray completed 43 passes worth 20+ yards, which placed him in the top 15.
It's no secret that the New York Jets have been one of the least efficient teams in the NFL. Searching for its first Super Bowl win since 1969, the team continues to search for its franchise quarterback.
The Jets have gone through a flurry of quarterbacks over the past 10 years or so, including Ryan Fitzpatrick, Geno Smith, Sam Darnold, and Zach Wilson.
Top picks such as Darnold and Wilson failed miserably, and the Aaron Rodgers experience never worked out. Is there a possibility that New York will cut ties with Justin Fields, who signed a two-year, $40 million deal with the Jets last offseason? Due a base salary of $20 million in 2026, the Jets finished last in the AFC East with a 3-14 record. Having last made the playoffs in 2010, they've been one of the worst teams in the NFL.
And last year, Fields didn't help their cause. Under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn, he was named the starting quarterback, but dealt with injuries, was benched, and was placed on injured reserve. Unable to jumpstart his career after drafted by the Bears, Fields completed 1,259 passing yards, 373 rushing yards, seven passing touchdowns, four rushing touchdowns, and one interception in nine games.
Similar to Murray, Fields is an elite runner, as we've seen in stints with the Bears and Steelers. However, his accuracy remains an issue among other things. It's only a matter of time before wide receiver Garrett Wilson asks for a trade. Playing just eight games in 2025, Wilson is an elite receiver who put up 1,000+ receiving yards through his first three NFL seasons.
It's clear the Jets are committed to building around their star players and even franchise-tagged running back Breece Hall. Frank Reich is out as offensive coordinator, and it's clear the franchise is looking for its next signal-caller. With Fernando Mendoza likely headed to the Raiders, this may be their chance to sign Murray. That said, he won't come at a high price.
If this is the case, Murray would join Wilson and Hall under Glenn. If they choose to release Fields, this is likely. Adding Murray will bring in a veteran presence that would hopefully boost some numbers. Unlikely to carry this team to the Super Bowl, it would be an improvement.
Last season, the Jets ranked No. 29 in points scored, producing just 4,481 yards of total offense. Additionally, they ranked last in passing touchdowns (15) and No. 31 in passing DVOA. If you place $5 on Murray to sign with the Jets, the payout would be $13.75.
Other teams that are favorites to sign Murray include the Miami Dolphins (+320), the Cleveland Browns (+450), and the Atlanta Falcons (+500).
The Dolphins may be a top landing spot if they are set to part ways with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Selected No. 5 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Alabama, Tagovailoa hasn't quite lived up to the hype. Sustaining multiple concussions, rumors have swirled about whether he will be released by the Dolphins.
With his NFL future uncertain, Tagovailoa hasn't played a full season since 2023 and was limited to 11 and 14 games over the last two seasons. Completing 2,660 passing yards for 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions, Miami ranked near last in several offensive categories.
Ranking No. 26 in offensive DVOA, this is a team that sat No. 25 in passing DVOA. Additionally, Miami had one of the worst-ranked offensive lines and put up just 5,112 yards of offense. Whether Murray would be an upgrade is a question, but this is a team that released its top receiver, Tyreek Hill, who is injured. Offensively, this team has several question marks outside of Jaylen Waddle and De'vone Achane.
If he signs with Miami, it would provide them with a boost on the ground, with the chance to get the ball down the field a bit more.
I do consider the Browns (+450) and Falcons (+500) long shots to land Murray. The Browns have Watson, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders on the books. Considered one of the most controversial NFL Drafts, Cleveland notably traded away the No. 3 pick (Travis Hunter) and ended up selecting Sanders at No. 144.
Regardless of the drama, Sanders finished the season as the starting quarterback and tallied 1,400 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in eight games. Head coach Todd Monken is in, and Kevin Stefanski is out, meaning an entirely new system is coming to the Land.
It couldn't hurt to bring in a veteran at little cost. Gabriel isn't the answer, and Watson appears to be all but done in the long run.
Murray, similar to Lamar Jackson, is a mobile quarterback, although I previously mentioned that's been limited by injuries. Having finished 4-12, this team has potential with Quinshon Judkins, Isaiah Bond, and Harold Fannin Jr. Monken was over in Baltimore and guided Jackson to his second MVP award with the Ravens. Could he help Murray turn his career around?
If you were to bet $5 on Murray to join the Browns, the payout would be $27.50.
Another long shot destination for Murray would be the Atlanta Falcons. They are planning to release veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins, and the franchise took a gamble by drafting Michael Penix Jr. No. 8 overall in 2024. A product out of Washington, Penix Jr. primarily served as a backup his rookie season, although he took over for Cousins. Limited to nine games last season, Penix Jr. was placed on IR after suffering a partially torn ACL.
This is an interesting spot. Atlanta narrowly missed the playoffs with an 8-9 record. Held within a relatively weaker NFC South division, this team has key pieces if they can find the right quarterback. Though set to release wide receiver Darnell Mooney, Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. are top options.
While Penix Jr. has showed flashes of stardom, he tallied 1,982 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and three interceptions in nine games. Perhaps a more mobile quarterback such as Murray, along with experience, could put this team where it needs to be. Combine that with a defense that's been upgraded through past drafts and free agencies.
Bijan Robinson is arguably the most elite pass-catching running back in the NFL. Murray could be an upgrade to an offense that ranked No. 21 in passing DVOA.
