All 30 Major League Baseball teams are on the field today as we begin weekend series across the league. These MLB player props and parlay picks are my best bets for the May 8 slate of games. Turn to your baseball betting app.
This week the most interesting news was former Yankees closer and Hall of Fame pitcher Mariano Rivera coming out in support of a salary cap in baseball. Apparently, the success that came from the Yankees spending George Steinbrenner's money during Mo's career has been forgotten. All that matters is the Dodgers winning. We can't have that.

My Same-Game Parlay comes from the Dodgers game tonight against the Atlanta Braves, who are tied for the best record in MLB.
Odds for this betting guide to MLB are from the experts at DraftKings. I'm going to hone my expertise and try to out-expert them, to improve my 52% winning percentage so far this baseball season.

I have two player props for the Yankees at Brewers, which is a fascinating game between a home run-happy team (NYY) and a team that plays the edges with small ball as needed, and relies on a deep, deep bullpen.
Max Fried has posted a 1.5% Barrel Percentage, one of the best rates in MLB. That means opposing batters are NOT barreling the ball in 98.5% of their swings against the tall left-hander.
Take the Yankees starter to limit hard contact and allow few hits (he's surrendered only 32 hits in 52 2/3 so far).
If you haven't seen a start by Jacob Misiorowski, then you're MIZing out. That's because "The Miz" is one of baseball's most exciting players, even if he's tucked away in Milwaukee. The man with the golden right arm has been clocked at 104.3 MPH. He's thrown 109 pitches of 100 mph+ this season.
That means we'll see a load of strikeouts from Misiorowski against the free-swinging Yankees. Only teh ABS system and its impact on lowering K's has kept the Yanks from being on a team record pace for whiffs.
I'm going all in on Misiorowski. This will be the first time most of the Yankee batters will be seeing him. Opposing batters are striking out in 52% of their at-bats against Misiorowski.
The best game on the schedule tonight is LA Dodgers at Atlanta. The two best teams in the National League are meeting for the first time this season. Last season the Dodgers were 5-1 against the Braves.
If you want to catch a souvenir baseball you can do no better than to attend a game started by Emmet Sheehan. The Dodgers righty has allowed 24 home runs in 164 2/3 innings, including six already in this season.
Sheehan rates in the bottom third in MLB in Hard Hit Percentage. Opposing batters are catching up to his heater (four-seamer averages 94 MPH, which is very hittable). Strangely, Sheehan's breaking ball, particularly his curveball, have been very good, but he only throws the curve about 9% of the time.
That's why I like the NL home run leader, Matt Olson, to go deep at home tonight.
Only six players in the NL have more multi-hit games than Freddie Freeman this season (12). He's on a six-game hitting streak. Freeman is 3-for-9 with a double and home run against Atlanta starter Chris Sale.
Now to Shohei Ohtani, who had a "slump" when he went 0 for 13 and has gone 11 days without hitting a home run. But Shohei has two hits in each of his last two games, and seems to be getting comfortable again at the plate. Last season, Ohtani was a menace against Atlanta: .348 with 2 HR and 6 runs scored in six games. I see a nice game for him against Sale and the bullpen.
Atlanta left-hander Chris Sale struck out 11 batters in his most recent start. Six K's against the rival Dodgers, when the old lefty's adrenaline will be up. Sale is averaging 6 strikeouts per six IP.
Odds from DraftKings Sportsbook:
My $10 parlay wager will be worth $250 if I hit on all four legs of this parlay.
My quick hitter Home Run Bet is for Phillies vs Rockies in Philadelphia. Over the last five seasons, Adolis Garcia has averaged 28 home runs, and his HR Rate (home runs per 100 at-bats) has ranked in the top 12 in all of baseball.
Garcia is getting acclimated to Philly, and has been barreling at a higher rate in the last week. He will face Chase Dollander of the Rockies, who will start. Last season, Dollander ranked third in the NL in HR allowed per inning.
I'm going half a unit ($50). A winning bet will pay $365.
