It's almost March and that means it's time for Major League Baseball. This is the first of six articles where we will take a look at each MLB division.
Which teams are hot, which teams are not, and who might surprise us this season. With 162 regular season games scheduled a lot can happen in a season but based on last season's results, and offseason moves we can make an educated prediction on this season's team outcomes. The first division we are going to dig into is one of the MLB's toughest the American League East.
This New York Yankees team is currently leading the odds to finish first in the American League East. They are a stacked team who are well balanced on both sides of the ball. While last year's 82-win season was viewed as a total disaster, their fourth-place finish could have been worse (not by much).
Heading into this season FanGraphs has the Yankees rated better than last season's projected win percentage, .503 with a .549 projected win percentage. While the Yankees have several free agents on board they should be hot to start the season.
The Yankees stacked roster is well-balanced with dangerous players on both sides of the ball. The Yankees acquired Juan Soto last season who has had one of the best starts to a MLB career ever. At just age 24 he has a career .946 OPS, which means he's on base a lot.
Also returning are offensive juggernauts Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge. After Stanton's MVP season, he has been seriously quiet when it comes to his plate appearances. I think this could be a bounce-back year for him though.
He has worked on his body a lot in the off-season coming into the 2024 season with a slimmed-down physique which should help loosen him up at the plate. In addition to his return, we also see Judge returning to the Bronx Bombers.
He is expected to have another stellar season leading the Yankees outfield to a solid defensive season in addition to his offensive prowess.
Overall this Yankees team hopes to have a deep playoff run, after winning the American League East. If Stanton can start to produce again, he and their retooled infield should be able to put pressure on not just the rest of the division but in baseball as a whole.

My MLB season preview, American League East predictions have made me take a hard look at each of the six divisions in baseball. After doing that deep dive, I believe that this AL East could be one of the best divisions in baseball. The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles looked primed for dominance.
Toronto didn't make any huge moves but some small important ones. The Orioles acquired Corbin Burnes which is huge for their pitching staff and overall team confidence.
One team that might struggle is the Tampa Bay Rays. They appear to have lost more than they gained in the offseason but can still be a solid team. With four out of the five American East teams projected to have a record above .500, they could easily be the best division in the Majors.
When starting the season, thinking about how you will maintain and track your MLB betting record can be daunting. With a possible 2,430 games to possibly bet on, there could be tens of thousands of wagers you can put in.
