Offensive fireworks will be on the cards when the Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks clash this Tuesday in West Group C action of the Emirates NBA Cup tournament at the Chase Center.
Golden State and Dallas look to start their journeys toward the highly-coveted trophy on a strong note after failing to make it through the knockout stages of last year’s NBA In-Season Tournament.
Will the Warriors overcome the odds and cover the spread or will the Mavericks return to the win column in style? As of press time, here’s how both teams look as we head into this much-anticipated matchup.

Entering as six-point underdogs on Sunday, the Golden State Warriors overcame the odds to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 127-116 and sit atop of the Western Conference standings.
Should the Warriors get the same contribution from Curry and continue its defensive prowess down low, backing them to cover the spread against the Dallas Mavericks is something worth considering.
However, for the Warriors to do such a thing, they will need to win the battle of the boards and get Buddy Hield going again, especially since the Mavericks have plenty of offensive weapons to begin with.
After stringing together four consecutive 20-point games, the 31-year old Hield was only limited to nine points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in the past three games.
All things considered, there could be value in -1.5 spread here, especially since the Warriors have only lost once at home so far this season.
The Dallas Mavericks dropped its second consecutive game in a row after falling to the Denver Nuggets 122-120 on Sunday.
However, for the Mavericks to cover on the road against the Golden State Warriors, they will need Klay Thompson to break free from his current struggles.
Since joining the Mavericks this offseason, the 34-year old former Warrior shooting guard has only averaged 14.2 points while shooting 36.6% from three, which is a far cry from his 17.9 points average last season.
Other than Thompson, Dallas will also need their bench to step up and carry some of the offensive load, especially after that massive explosion from Irving last Sunday.
Against the Nuggets, the Mavericks bench were only limited to 16 points, which simply won’t do against the Warriors who have plenty of scoring threats as evident by their league-leading 73.3 offensive rating.
Should Thompson step up to the plate and Dallas get similar offensive production from their main men Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, there could be value towards picking the road team to cover the spread at these current odds.
Dallas Mavericks forward Klay Thompson should enter this game with a chip on his shoulder as he returns to the Bay Area for the first time since his departure.
However, it remains to be seen whether that could translate into Thompson breaking free from his struggles and having a big game.
Considering the Golden State Warriors current form, I am more inclined towards picking the home team to cover the spread at these current odds. Give me the Warriors at home.
