“New York returned to the win column on Sunday following a victory against the Milwaukee Bucks while Detroit recorded its sixth win in seven games with a 123-114 triumph against the Toronto Raptors.”
Will Cunningham lead the Pistons to another victory or will Brunson and the rest of the Knicks protect its home court?
That remains to be seen but with the season series hanging in the balance, expect both teams to go at it to grab the upper hand.
Keep scrolling as we dig deep on how the Knicks and the Pistons look in this comprehensive New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons sports predictions article.
After a sour start to the new year, the New York Knicks are seemingly back on the winning track with victories over the Toronto Raptors and the Milwaukee Bucks in their past three games.
New York will look to make it two wins in a row and three in their last four as they take on the battle-tested Detroit Pistons next.
Although they lost in their previous encounter against the Pistons, the Knicks come into this matchup as the moderate favorites and rightfully so.
However, in Towns’ defense, that was only his fifth game as a Knick, which means there could be a feeling of pressure on what role he would play in the team.
It is also worth noting that Towns was absent due to a right knee tendinitis in the Knicks lone defeat to the Pistons earlier this season.
Considering that Towns is healthy and the wealth of offensive firepower of New York led by Brunson, backing the Knicks to cover the spread and pull off a blowout win might be a value bet at -110.
Crafty shooting guard Jaden Ivey missed his sixth straight game but it didn’t stop the Detroit Pistons from wreaking havoc and beating the Toronto Raptors 123-114 to score its sixth win in seven games.
Sweet shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. had 27 points on a near-perfect seven out of eight shooting from three while versatile guard Cade Cunningham registered a triple-double of 22 points, 17 assists, and 10 rebounds.
Detroit looks to make it seven wins in their last eight as they cross paths with the New York Knicks – a team they have already beaten once this season.
For the Pistons to cover the spread on the road against the Knicks, they will need to take care of the ball much better. In their initial encounter at New York this season, Detroit turned the ball over 22 times compared to the former’s nine turnovers.
Detroit lost the battle of the boards 45-38 and what’s even worse is they gave away 12 second chance opportunities to New York.
Should the Pistons address those issues and continue to get the same numbers from Cunningham and his supporting cast, backing the road team to cover the spread and potentially win outright is not a bad idea at -110.
The Detroit Pistons have made some noise lately with victories against playoff contenders such as the Orlando Magic and the Minnesota Timberwolves during its current winning run.
With how they are winning games for fun, one could argue that another victory might be in store for the Pistons but let me pause it right here.
Although Detroit certainly has the tools to beat powerhouse teams, I just don’t see them beating the much loaded and more talented New York Knicks squad right now.
With the Knicks having a healthy Karl-Anthony Towns back and a seemingly unstoppable Jalen Brunson dictating their offense, expect New York to walk away with another huge win.
