“Denver took a commanding 2-1 lead in their season series versus Dallas following a 112-101 comeback win against Dallas on Sunday thanks to an all-around performance from Russell Westbrook who tallied 21 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists."
Will the Nuggets continue to its dominance over the Mavericks or will Dallas break its losing trend and return to the win column in style?
As of press time, here’s how the current Dallas Mavericks vs Denver Nuggets odds as we head into another thrilling Western Conference affair.
Missing the All-Star backcourt duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving for the fifth straight game, the Dallas Mavericks were unable to extend their winning streak to three as they succumbed to the Denver Nuggets 112-101 on Sunday.
Contrary to popular belief, however, the Mavericks didn’t fold like everyone expected them to. In fact, they even led by as many as 19 in the third and by 12 early in the fourth thanks to a hot shooting night from Klay Thompson who had 25 points on six-out-of-13 from trey.
Dallas has a chance to right its wrong and tie the season series as they take on the same Denver squad next and from what they have shown in the first three quarters of their previous matchup versus the latter, they have all the tools necessary to win.
So, one might ask where it went wrong for the Mavericks and the simple answer is the rebounding battle. Short-handed and undermanned in all sorts, Dallas was out-rebounded by Denver 55-37 and what’s even worse is they gave away 15 second chance opportunities.
Should the Mavericks address their rebounding issues and get similar offensive production from its starters which scored in double figures last time versus the Nuggets, backing them to cover the +5 spread at home is something worth considering at -110.
The Denver Nuggets extended its winning streak to three following a 112-101 comeback win against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.
Former league Most Valuable Player (MVP) Russell Westbrook spearheaded Denver’s attack with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists while slot man Nikola Jokic added a near triple-double of 19 points, 18 rebounds, and nine assists.
Denver hopes to make it four wins a row as they battle Dallas once again and here are several reasons why backing them to cover the spread at -110 might be a good idea.
With both Doncic and Irving still out of commission, the Nuggets have two less men to worry about, making the five-point spread at -110 an attractive option for punters wanting for a betting angle on the favorite.
One thing we’d like to see from the Nuggets here is improved three-point shooting percentage after just converting 21.9% of their attempts from downtown last time.
Denver may also want to find a way to tighten their perimeter defense and try to contain Klay Thompson who shot the lights out on Sunday.
Should the Nuggets address those concerns and continue to play their brand of basketball, backing them to outwork the Mavericks and cover the spread might be worth several betting units.
The Denver Nuggets have been winning games for fun in the past week or so and I expect it to continue against the Dallas Mavericks. With All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic absent for the Mavericks, expect the Nuggets to capitalize and pull off another huge win. Give me the Nuggets to cover the -5 spread at -110.
