Revenge will be on the mind of the Denver Nuggets when they host the unbeaten Oklahoma City Thunder this Wednesday inside the jam-packed Ball Arena.

The Thunder drew first blood in the season series, beating the Nuggets 102-87 thanks to spitfire combo guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who exploded for 28 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.
- Unlike their first matchup where they were the two-point favorites, the Nuggets are opening as 3.5-point underdogs here as per the latest Denver Nuggets vs Oklahoma City Thunder betting lines.
- Denver is coming off a nail-biting 121-119 victory over the Toronto Raptors while Oklahoma dismantled the Orlando Magic 102-86 to extend its winning run to seven.
- Both teams, however, are on the opposite sides of the spectrum as far as Against-The-Spread (ATS) records are concerned with the Thunder, sporting an impressive 6-1 slate and the Nuggets just covering two of their five games.
Can the Nuggets turn things around and hand the Thunder its first loss of the season or will the latter continue its unbeaten start? That remains to be seen but as of press time, here’s how the current Denver Nuggets vs Oklahoma City Thunder odds look like.

Why will the
Denver Nuggets
cover the spread?
Since losing their first two games of the season, the Denver Nuggets have finally regained its championship form, winning four of their last five.
A large part of that has been the offensive explosion of former league Most Valuable Player (MVP) Russell Westbrook who has been helping Nikola Jokic in carrying the scoring load with the absence of Jamal Murray.
- Against the Toronto Raptors on Monday, Westbrook unleashed his old deadly form, exploding for 21 points, six rebounds, and six assists to help the Nuggets turn a 11-point fourth-quarter deficit into a two-point victory.
- Not to be outdone is sweet-shooting forward Michael Porter Jr. who has racked up five straight double-figure games after being held to nine points in their loss against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Jokic's consistency fuels Nuggets' offense
Jokic remains the focal point of the Nuggets offense with the Serbian center posting near triple-double averages of 29.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 9.8 assists.
- The 29-year old Jokic is coming off a triple-double performance against the Raptors where he finished with 28 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 rebounds while making 45.5% of his shots.
With the Nuggets getting offensive production from multiple guys and All-Star guard Jamal Murray likely playing in this match, picking the Nuggets to cover and possibly win outright is a great play here.
Although it does not happen more often, Denver have also covered the spread when bookmakers have them as underdogs, going 1-0 ATS.
Why will the
Oklahoma City Thunder
cover the spread?
After missing out on the MVP award last season, combo guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is seemingly hellbent on finally winning it this season, leading the Oklahoma City Thunder into a searing 7-0 (win-loss) start.
- Across the Thunder’s winning run, the Canadian superstar has averaged 26.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.2 blocks while converting 47.1% of his shots from the field.
- Also delivering the goods for the Thunder is third-year forward Jalen Williams, who has been posting impressive numbers of 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.0 steals during the winning streak.
- It is also worth noting that Oklahoma have won four of their road games by double digits and by an average margin of 17.5 points and even more impressive is they beat the same Nuggets team on the road earlier this season by 15.
With Denver failing to cover and barely escaping against a middle-of-the-pack Toronto Raptors squad last time, backing the Thunder to cover the spread is something worth mulling over.
It is also worth noting that the Nuggets are missing several key players in this matchup with Aaron Gordon still a gametime decision after suffering a concussion early against the Raptors.
Furthermore, Oklahoma has covered the spread in their four road games this season, which pales in comparison to Denver which sports a 1-3 ATS home record.
Final
Denver Nuggets
vs
Oklahoma City Thunder
NBA Prediction: Denver Nuggets +3.5 (-110)
The Oklahoma City Thunder are flying right now and one could argue that picking against them is like shooting yourself against the foot. But I am going out on the limb here and picking the Denver Nuggets to cover the spread.
With Nikola Jokic putting up his usual numbers, Jamal Murray likely returning, and Russell Westbrook seemingly settling in Colorado, the Nuggets should have enough firepower to keep this game close and possibly even win it. Give me the Nuggets and the free points.
