The Detroit Pistons gun for its second straight win while the Charlotte Hornets aim to snap an eight-game losing skid as they collide this Friday at Little Caesars Arena.
“Detroit enters this matchup on the back of a 105-96 victory over the Orlando Magic while Charlotte dropped its eighth game in a row after losing to the Chicago Bulls 115-108 in overtime.”
Will the Hornets continue its dominant run versus the Pistons and return to the win column or will Detroit score a measure of revenge and get one in their season series?
As of press time, here’s how the current Detroit Pistons vs Charlotte Hornets odds as we head into this exciting clash that could potentially be decided in the waning seconds like their first two encounters this season.
Winners of four of their last six, the Detroit Pistons returned to its winning ways on Wednesday thanks to a collective team effort that saw all of its starters hit the double digit mark.
Detroit looks to make it back-to-back wins as they take on old tormentors Charlotte Hornets who have beaten them in all of their two encounters this season.
The 22-year old Ivey is listed as day-to-day versus the Hornets but the Pistons still have plenty of offensive weapons on their bag that could help them cover the spread and score its second consecutive victory.
It can be recalled that the 21-year old Duren was only held to 2.5 points and six rebounds in their first two encounters with the Hornets this season.
For the Pistons to cover the spread versus the Hornets here, they will also need Malik Beasley to find his shooting touch. In their game versus the Magic, the 28-year old Beasley was only held to two points while missing all of his seven shots from the field.
Should the Pistons get the necessary contributions from Cunningham and its supporting cast, backing them to cover the -5 spread at -110 offers significant value especially with how the Hornets have been playing lately.
Struggles continue to hound the Charlotte Hornets as they dropped its eighth game in a row after suffering a 115-108 overtime loss to the Chicago Bulls on Monday.
Charlotte has a chance to break that unfortunate trend next as they get a favorable matchup next in the form of the Detroit Pistons.
It is also worth mentioning that the Hornets will have Lonzo Ball back in this game after the streaky court general sat out versus the Bulls with a wrist soreness.
Should Ball and Miller deliver their usual numbers and the Hornets get another huge game from high-flying forward Miles Bridges, who had 31 points versus the Bulls, backing the home team to not only cover the spread but potentially win outright might be a good value bet here.
One thing we’d like to see the Hornets do here is to limit giving away second chance opportunities to the Pistons and impose their presence inside.
In their second game versus Detroit this season, Charlotte was out-rebounded 56-43 by the former and what’s even worse is they gave away 21 second chance opportunities.
Despite all their struggles this season, the Charlotte Hornets have seemingly turned it up a notch when facing the Detroit Pistons having beaten the latter in their previous two encounters.
However, their winning streak versus the Pistons here. Although the Hornets come into this matchup as the more healthier team, Detroit is just a completely different team right now.
With plenty of offensive weapons and a defensive juggernaut in the form of Jalen Duren, expect Detroit to walk away with a comfortable victory versus the Hornets here. Give me the Pistons at -110 to cover the spread.
