The Timberwolves and the Mavericks made solid starts to the season winning two of their first three games.
Will the Timberwolves continue its regular season mastery against the Mavericks or will the scoring trio of Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic, and Klay Thompson change the current narrative?
Keep scrolling as we take an in-depth look at both teams in this comprehensive Minnesota Timberwolves vs Dallas Mavericks sports betting predictions article.
After dropping its opening day assignment against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Minnesota Timberwolves has turned things around picking up back-to-back victories against the Sacramento Kings and the Toronto Raptors.
Although the victory was a total team effort, a couple of names shone for the Timberwolves in the current win streak but none bigger than forward Julius Randle.
This pales in comparison to his Timberwolves debut where Randle only recorded 16 points and four assists on top of two turnovers.
It is also worth noting that Minnesota is taking on a wounded Dallas team, who is missing the services of key role players Maxi Kleber and Dante Exum here.
The 32-year old Kleber was solid in last season’s playoffs, making over 42% of his shots from downtown while Exum was just as impressive converting 35% of his three-point attempts.
One thing the Timberwolves have to be wary of in this game is their turnovers. Against the Lakers, Minnesota committed 15 turnovers, which is simply unacceptable when taking on a sharpshooting team like Dallas.
Aside from taking care of the ball, Minnesota also needs spitfire guard Anthony Edwards to continue his stellar offensive display to nullify any offensive explosion from Mavericks star Luka Doncic.
Should Edwards and Randle continue to deliver these numbers and the Wolves get some much-needed defensive support from its frontcourt, backing the home squad to pull off a convincing victory should be a no-brainer.
The Dallas Mavericks rebounded in style following a double-digit loss to the Phoenix Suns as they beat the Utah Jazz 110-102 at home to return to the win column.
Dallas looks to make two straight when they take on a familiar foe in the Minnesota Timberwolves – a team they have virtually manhandled in last season’s playoffs.
Oh and lest we forget, the Mavericks did that without Klay Thompson. Acquired just this offseason, the 34-year old Thompson has settled in nicely in the Big D, averaging 19.3 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 46% from three.
All things considered, the free points on Dallas could be an attractive punt at these current odds, considering the Timberwolves have failed to cover in their first home game this season.
There’s no better way to put it but the matchup between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Dallas Mavericks is a coin toss.
With Klay Thompson in the lineup, the Mavericks have another offensive weapon to share the scoring load with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
However, I am going to go out of the limb here and pick the Timberwolves to cover the spread. This is a medium confidence pick but one thing I like about this Minnesota squad is its depth.
Although the Mavericks have plenty of offensive and defensive firepower from different areas of the floor, I am far more confident in Julius Randle, Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, and company to impose its presence and cover the spread. Oh, and playing at home helps the Timberwolves too.
