“Portland scored its fifth win in six games after upsetting the Milwaukee Bucks 125-112 while Orlando suffered a 125-119 double overtime loss to their cross-town rivals, the Miami Heat on Tuesday.”

  • This will be the second and final up between the Blazers and the Magic this season, with the former scoring an impressive 101-79 victory over the latter last week.
  • Despite their current struggles and recent history versus the Blazers, the Magic head into this matchup as the slight 4.5-point favorite according to the latest Portland Trail Blazers vs Orlando Magic betting lines.
  • What makes this matchup exciting is the fact that Portland and Orlando have been more than decent in covering the spread this year, posting 24-24 Against-The-Spread (ATS) and 25-21 ATS records respectively.

Will the Blazers continue its unprecedented hot streak and complete the sweep of their season series or will the Magic exact revenge and return to the win column in style?

As of press time, here’s how the current Portland Trail Blazers vs Orlando Magic odds look like in a matchup that could potentially be decided in the closing seconds of the game.

Best NBA odds for Portland Trail Blazers vs Orlando Magic

  • The Portland Trail Blazers beat the Orlando Magic by double digits last week. DraftKings offers the best odds for the Trail Blazers to win outright at +145.
  • The Orlando Magic have covered the spread nine times in 24 road games this season. Caesars Sportsbook offers the best odds for the Magic to cover the spread for a solid price of -110.
  • A low-scoring affair is usually on the cards when the Portland Trail Blazers and the Orlando Magic clash with the under total hitting five times in their previous six encounters. The best Portland Trail Blazers vs Orlando Magic odds for the under total are available on DraftKings at -110.

Why will the Portland Trail Blazers cover the spread?

Whether by fate or design, the Portland Trail Blazers have seemingly found a new lease of life in the past week or so, winning five of their past six games.

Portland will look to continue their winning run as they take on the Orlando Magic and considering how they’ve manhandled this team on the road last week, there could be significant value towards backing them as an underdog here.

  • Coming in as a heavy eight-point underdog, the Trail Blazers used a collective team effort that saw five players hit double digits led by guard Anfernee Simons who finished with 21 points on eight out of 15 shooting from the field.
  • Even more impressive is the Trail Blazers’ suffocating defense which recorded 14 steals and 12 blocks while forcing the Magic to only make 24% of their shots from downtown and commit 19 turnovers.
  • If that is not good enough, Portland’s defense has actually held up in the past six games, only allowing teams to score 100.8 points per contest.
  • Portland has also been extremely impressive on the offensive end, with small forward Deni Avdija, averaging 29.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and five assists in the past two.
  • Other than Avdija, the 25-year old Simons has also upped his game this month, posting averages of 20.3 points, 4.5 assists, and three rebounds in January.

With the Blazers clicking on multiple areas of the floor, backing them to cover the spread and potentially win outright versus a struggling Magic squad is something worth a shot at these current odds.

Why will the Orlando Magic cover the spread?

Struggles continue for the Orlando Magic as they suffered its sixth loss in the past seven games after falling to the Miami Heat 125-119 in double overtime.

It does not get any easier for the Magic as they battle the Portland Trail Blazers next – a team that notably beat them by double digits last week. Surprisingly though, the Magic are the slight favorites in their second matchup versus the Blazers and for plenty of reasons.

  • For one, versatile forward Paolo Banchero, who was only limited to eight points versus the Blazers last week, has regained his deadly form, posting averages of 24.5 points, seven rebounds, and 6.5 assists in the past two games.
  • Other than Banchero, sweet shooting German forward Franz Wagner has also increased his contribution in the past two, with averages of 30.5 points, six rebounds, and five assists on a 42.3% clip from the field.
  • Even more impressive is the Magic’s ability to cover the spread, posting a 24-24 ATS card while covering the spread nine times in 24 road games this season.

For the Magic to cover the spread, however, they would need to improve their field goal percentage, particularly their shooting from downtown after only converting just 24% of their shots versus the Blazers in their initial encounter.

Should Orlando address its shooting woes and continue to do good work on the boards, backing Banchero, Wagner, and the road team to cover the spread and rebound in style is something worth considering for punters looking for a betting angle on the favorite.

Final Portland Trail Blazers vs Orlando Magic NBA Prediction: Under 210 (-110)

The Portland Trail Blazers have completely reinvented themselves with victories against vaunted squads such as the Milwaukee Bucks and the Denver Nuggets during their current stretch.

On a surface, that reason alone should be enough to back them to cover the spread versus the Orlando Magic. However, I am having second thoughts of pulling the trigger, especially with the Magic’s Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner slowly regaining their offensive forms.

That said, I am going out of a limb and picking the under total in this exciting East-versus-West affair. While both teams have a plethora of offensive players that love to put the ball into the basket, defense has seemingly prevailed in their previous encounters, with the under total hitting five times in their past six meetings.
