“Golden State recorded its second straight win following a 120-113 victory against the Washington Wizards while Boston suffered a nail-biting 110-115 overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday.”

  • Early Golden State Warriors vs Boston Celtics odds have Jayson Tatum and the Celtics as the moderate 6.5-point favorite in this inter-conference matchup.
  • It is, however, worth noting that it was the Warriors that got the better of the Celtics last time, beating the latter 118-112 despite coming in as 7.5-point underdogs.
  • Golden State also has a winning record versus the spread, posting an impressive 10-7 Against-The-Spread (ATS) whenever bookmakers have them as underdogs.

Will the Warriors continue its winning momentum and sweep the season series or will the Celtics regain its deadly form and exact sweet revenge?

That remains to be seen but as of press time, here’s how the current Golden State Warriors vs Boston Celtics betting lines look as we head into this exciting East-versus-West clash.

  • The Boston Celtics have beaten teams by an average margin of 9.1 points this season. DraftKings offers the best odds for the Celtics to cover the spread at -110.

Why will the Golden State Warriors cover the spread?

The Golden State Warriors stifled a late fightback from the Washington Wizards on Saturday to secure a 122-114 victory and more importantly record its second straight win.

Canadian forward Andrew Wiggins spearheaded Golden State’s attack with 31 points and 11 rebounds while Stephen Curry and Dennis Schroder added 26 and 20 points each in a total team effort that saw six Warriors hit the double figure mark.

Wiggins’ explosion comes at a perfect time as the Warriors battle the defending champions Boston Celtics next. Although Golden State managed to win versus Boston last time, the 29-year old Wiggins struggled from the field, making zero of his three attempts from rainbow country.

  • Wiggins has been playing out of this world lately, posting averages of 25 points, 6.3 rebounds, and three assists while converting 46.1% of his shots from the field.
  • Besides Wiggins, Golden State will also have another offensive weapon in the form of Schroder who has been decent against the Celtics this season, posting averages of 18 points, 3.5 rebounds, and three assists on 49.6% shooting from the field.

With the 36-year old Curry in top form, scoring at least 26 points in the past three games, there could be massive value towards backing the Warriors to cover the +6.5 spread at -110.

One thing we’d like to see the Warriors do here though to increase their chances of covering the spread is to play defense without fouling. Against the Celtics earlier this season, Golden State was forced to foul 19 times, ultimately leading to 21 attempts from the charity stripe from the former.

Should Golden State address their foul woes and continue to shoot like they have been doing in the past two games, backing them to not only cover the spread but potentially win outright is something worth a punt.

Why will the Boston Celtics cover the spread?

Five players hit double digits but it wasn’t enough for the Boston Celtics to extend its winning run as they fell to the Atlanta Hawks in overtime 119-115.

Forward Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 24 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists but shot an awful 9-for-27 from the field while his running mate Jayson Tatum added 23 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists on seven-for-21 shooting.

Boston will look to put that loss behind them as they gun for a bounce back win and revenge against the Golden State Warriors who gave them the business earlier this season.

Despite losing their initial encounter, the Celtics head into this matchup versus the Warriors as the moderate favorite according to the latest Boston Celtics vs Golden State Warriors odds and rightly so.

  • Boston, for one, has shown some excellent fighting resolve away from home this season, having covered the spread nine times in 19 road games.
  • The Celtics have also been pretty dominant this season, beating teams by an average margin of 9.1 points, which is good for third best in the league.

It is also worth noting that the Celtics were without Brown the last time they faced the Warriors after he strained his left hip flexor.

  • Since his return from injury, the 28-year old Brown has been putting up excellent numbers of 23.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.8 assists on 45.4% shooting from the field.

With the Celtics having another offensive firepower besides Tatum, backing the road team to cover the spread and win in style is something worth considering for punters looking for a betting angle on the favorite.

Final Golden State Warriors vs Boston Celtics NBA Prediction: Over 225.5 (-110)

On paper, the Boston Celtics are the much better team but NBA games rarely play out that way as we’ve witnessed the last time these two teams faced.

Although the Golden State Warriors have all the tools necessary to surprise everyone and sweep the season series versus the Celtics, their lack of frontcourt help might come back and haunt him here.

That said, I am going out of my way and picking the over total in this matchup. While the under total has hit in their past two matchups, I expect this game to be free-flowing on offense especially with the Warriors and the Celtics frontcourts going through separate injuries.
