NBA Player Props Tonight for Pistons vs Suns: Cade Cunningham Leads My +550 SGP (Dec 21)

The final NBA game of the day on Saturday will see the Phoenix Suns hunt down a much-needed win at home against the improving Detroit Pistons without the services of Devin Booker.

While Booker's been something of a defensive liability this year, we can still use his absence to project how the Pistons will look to score the ball, as well as capitalize on the increased usage of Kevin Durant with his running mate off the floor.

Let's build a same-game parlay for Pistons vs Suns on Saturday, December 21 and lay out a few props that will work well as standalone straight bets as well.

Cade Cunningham 10+ Assists

It's been a roller coaster ride for Cade Cunningham bettors this month, watching the young guard put up a few clunkers in between four double-doubles this month. After a quiet night in most statistical columns last time out against the Jazz, however, I expect plenty of helpers out of Cunningham on Saturday in Phoenix.

• The Suns have allowed the 11th-most assists per 100 possessions to opponents this season, and while that number has come down without Booker on the floor there's been a clear trend in how opponents are trying to score the ball.

Opponents are taking mor shots at the rim, and more shots from 3, with Booker off the floor which generally speaking is music to our ears as we look for assists out of a point guard.

Cunningham should be able to find a bit more luck in the pick-and-roll here, which is good news considering the Pistons have not only made some improvements in both of those areas but will encounter a Suns defense which has really struggled against the 3.

While Phoenix has been better defensively without Booker on the whole, those two areas would seem to indicate that things could be a bit trickier than normal for the Suns despite an upgrade on that end.

Malik Beasley 15+ Points

We mentioned it earlier, so let's make some further profits and find the best way through this brutal Suns 3-point defense.

• At the arc, Phoenix is allowing nearly 38% shooting to rank just 21st in the NBA, and while it's improved a bit this month we've actually seen more looks from 3 out of its opponents than we have all season.

Malik Beasley is easily the best man for the job, sitting in the top 20% of the league at his position in shooting frequency from 3 and residing in the same portion of players with 41% shooting according to Cleaning the Glass.

With Jalen Duren out, it's seemed that the wing is Detroit's choice to fill the void with a combined 75 minutes of court time in the last two games. He's delivered in a huge way, scoring 26 points and knocking down seven triples in each contest, putting him in a golden position against a struggling 3-point defense.

Kevin Durant 29+ Points

With Booker off the floor, this Suns offense has belonged exclusively to Kevin Durant.

The superstar wing has seen a monstrous 9.2% increase in his Usage Rate without Booker, attempting over four additional shots for 5.23 more points per 36 minutes.

• Detroit has very clearly been an offensive-minded team lately, ranking just 26th in defensive efficiency this month, and with the ball in his hands all game long Durant should go off.

The Pistons have especially struggled against the 3, where Durant has drastically increased his shooting volume this season to its highest mark in seven years, ranking third-worst. It's also ranked just 25th in defending long mid-range jumpers.

We all know by now that this is where Durant makes his money, and I have no doubts about him filling up the scoring column here. Though he's yet to play without Booker this season, he did go for 30 or more in nine of those 14 games a season ago with an average over 32.
