The Timberwolves' moneyline leads off my NBA parlay predictions.
As mentioned, in Game 3, at home, the Timberwolves had a massive win—42 points to be exact—but now down 2-1 in the series, they cannot afford to go back to Oklahoma City in Game 5 down 3-1.
In Game 3, seven Timberwolves players had double-digit points, including Anthony Edwards (30), Julius Randle (24), Jaden McDaniels (10), Naz Reid (10), Nickeil Alexander-Walker (12), Leonard Miller (11), and Terrence Shannon Jr. (15).
As for the Thunder, five players hit double digits, but none of them topped 14 points—Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Ajay Mitchell led the way.
The Timberwolves shot 55 of 96 from the floor (57.3%) and 20 of 40 from 3-point range (50%).
Their defense held the Thunder to 35 of 86 from the floor (40.7%) and 14 of 44 from 3-point range (31.8%).
The Timberwolves also smashed the rebound battle (50-31), assists (30-19), steals (6-5), and they won the paint battle (56-42).
For Game 4, I will take the Timberwolves to win at home again and send this series back to Oklahoma City tied at 2-2.
This is a must-win game for them, and their defense was extremely potent against the Thunder in Game 3, especially toward Gilgeous-Alexander.
He shot just 30.8% from the floor and logged just 28 minutes.
I don't think the Thunder will be held down long, though, as they're the best team in the NBA.
Also, I don't think the Timberwolves will win by 40-plus again either.
I think it'll be a close game. The Timberwolves will experience some regression as they can't shoot above 57% game in and game out, but they'll get it done.
As a home underdog, they boast the best cover percentage in the NBA (80%) and have a record of 4-1-1.
If you want to take the +3 on the point spread to be safer, I understand, but at home, with their back against the wall, the Timberwolves need to get a win here.
If not, this series is likely over in Game 5.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 2+ Three Pointers Made
The next leg of my NBA Same Game Parlay today is for Gilgeous-Alexander to make two or more 3-point shots.
Over his last five games, Gilgeous-Alexander has had two or more in three games.
In Game 3, despite a terrible outing of 14 points, he still hit 2 of 5 from beyond the arc.
He had just one between Games 1 and 2, but remember, SGA is a 37.5% 3-point shooter.
This season, he's attempting 5.7 3-point shots per game, and at 37.5%, that's already over two makes per game.
The Timberwolves do hold teams to 35.2% from beyond the arc (fifth), but for SGA to shoot just 27.2% from 3-point range over the course of this series, yeah, that's going to change.
During the regular season, SGA had two or more 3-point shots made in 48 of 76 games (63.2%).
In 14 postseason games this year, he's had two or more in six of them.
Julius Randle Over 18.5 Points
One of the best parlay bets today in the NBA is for Randle to finish with 18.5 points.
In Game 1, he had 28 in a dominant night, shooting over 69% from the floor.
In Game 2, however, he came crashing back down to earth, shooting a mere 18.2% (2 of 11) from the floor, including going 0 for 3 from 3-point range.
Then, in Game 3, in a crushing win over Oklahoma City, playing just 30 minutes—the fewest he's played over his last five games—he logged 24 points. He shot 9 of 15 from the floor (60%) and 2 of 5 from downtown (40%).
Before Game 2, Randle had been red-hot, going for 28 or more in the three games prior.
Sure, Game 2 was a punch in the guy, but he responded well with 24 points.
This season, Randle is averaging 18.7 points per game and has logged 19 or more in 37 of 69 games (53.6%).
During this postseason, he's scored 19 or more points in all but three games.
In two of those games, he fell short, with one 16-point and one 18-point outing.
Randle logged just one game against the Thunder during the regular season. He had 11 in just 27 minutes.
For the Timberwolves to head back to Oklahoma City tied at 2-2, Randle and Edwards will need to continue scoring.
Randle going for 19 is something I'd bank on.
