The NBA Play-In matchups continue on Friday, April 18, with two games to determine the No. 8 seed in the Eastern and Western Conferences.
Here, I’ll examine the East matchup between the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat.

The Hawks landed in this game after losing to the Orlando Magic 120-95 in a fight for the No. 7 seed, while the Heat beat the Chicago Bulls 109-90 to knock them out of the tournament and have a chance at the No. 8 seed.
The winner of this game will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
The Hawks will host this game. They’re 21-19 at home, while the Heat are 17-23 on the road.
The Hawks are slight favorites at -1 and -118 on the moneyline.
On the injury report, I’ll be monitoring the status of Hawks center Clint Capela, who was ruled out of Tuesday's game with a hand injury.
As for the Heat, they’re without Kevin Love, Nikola Jovic, and Dru Smith.
Below, you’ll find my NBA Same Game Parlay picks today for this game with odds of +216.

For the first leg of my NBA parlay prediction, I’m taking the Heat +1.
Of course, with a spread like that, I’m essentially picking them to win, but worst case, they lose by one, and this leg of the Same Game Parlay is a push.
If Capela is out, the Hawks frontcourt will have a disastrous time withstanding the offense from Andrew Wiggins and Bam Adebayo.
Over their last three games, the Heat have allowed just 104.3 points per game (third).
Using the same timeline, the Heat’s offense has stepped up, averaging 126.7 points per game (third) compared to the Hawks’ 112.0 (17th).
Miami is also shooting 51.9% from the floor (third), 38.4% from 3-point range (fifth), and 60.7% on 2-point shots (third).
Tyler Herro has been a big part of their offensive success lately. Against the Bulls, he scored 38 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
He’s a presence from the perimeter, and the Hawks are a team that could present some problems, holding the Orlando Magic to 28.2% from 3-point range. Though to be fair, the Magic’s offense is far from stellar.
In that game against the Magic, though, the Hawks allowed a shooting percentage of 63.5% on 2-point shots, which I think could prove to be the death knell for them here.
Look for the Heat to beat up on the Hawks in the paint on defense while Herro tests their will from the perimeter. I think the Heat win this one, but again, I’ll take the point to be safe.
For the next leg of my NBA Same Game Parlay today, I’m taking Adebayo to score 18 points or more.
The individual betting line for this prop is -200.
Against the Bulls, Adebayo had 15 points and 12 rebounds.
In the last five games of the regular season, he had 18 or more in all five of them.
As mentioned, the Heat are taking on a Hawks team that’s struggled against those 2-point shots, allowing 63.5% of them to fall against Orlando.
Of course, Capela's status is massive for this assessment. Still, I think Adebayo will get it done and have a great game.
Due to the lack of a frontcourt and my expectation that the Hawks try to pin down the perimeter game, I’ll be a bit conservative with Herro’s 3-point expectation.
In the five games prior, he had at least two in all of them.
This season, Herro has made two 3-point shots or more in 66 of 77 games.
Over the past three games, the Hawks have allowed 34.9% of 3-point shots to fall (10th) and 12.7% of 3-point shots to go in (tied for 8th).
I certainly expect some difficulties, but Herro is almost automatic to have at least two in one game.
This season, Herro has played the Hawks four times.
In the other game, on Feb. 24, he had a lousy outing, shooting 0 of 9 from 3-point range.
Still, I think Herro gets it done and continues his streak of productivity.
