Two games will be played on Friday, April 18, to determine the No. 8 seed in each conference in the NBA ahead of the playoffs.
I’ve already covered the Eastern Conference matchup between the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat, and now, it’s time to look at the Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies lost to the Golden State Warriors 121-116 to earn this spot, while the Mavericks defeated the Sacramento Kings 120-106.
The winner of this game will have a tall task: Taking on the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Grizzlies are 26-15 at home, while the Mavericks are 17-25 on the road. The Grizzlies will host this matchup.
The injury report has one massive name on it: Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant. He didn’t practice Thursday and is dealing with an ankle injury.
As for the Mavericks, Kyrie Irving and Olivier-Maxence Prosper are out.

For the first leg of my NBA parlay prediction, I’m taking the Grizzlies moneyline.
The Grizzlies are 6-point favorites in this one, but I’m a bit scared to take the point spread in either direction.
Where I think they can beat up on the Mavericks is holding down their perimeter game.
They’re also holding teams to 111.7 points per game over that stretch, which is middle of the pack. However, considering the Mavericks have been shooting 37.8% (tied for 6th) over their last three games, the Grizzlies defense should be able to make things difficult for them and withstand what I think could turn into an onslaught from Mavericks star Anthony Davis.
That’s why I’m taking the moneyline as opposed to the spread—the Mavericks with Anthony Davis can be a tough out.
Davis has played in 10 games for Dallas this season, including the Play-In win over the Kings.
I also have some questions due to Ja Morant’s injury status. He’s considered questionable.
I expect him to suit up in a game of this magnitude, but it’s fair to question his effectiveness.
Another advantage of the Grizzlies is their ability to crash the boards.
As for Dallas, they’re at 50.9 per game this season.
That said, they’re at 52.0 per game over their last three—Davis certainly plays a role in that.
I'm taking the over for the next leg of my NBA Same Game Parlay today.
As mentioned, the Grizzlies have been strong against 3-point shots, but they’re beatable on 2-point shots, which is where Davis lives.
They allowed 121 to Golden State, 141 to Minnesota, and 117 to Denver since April 10.
Then, if Morant suits up and plays his usual Morant-like game (he averages 23.2 points per game, which leads Memphis), I think this total will be over.
This is going to be a tight game.
In the Mavericks 120-106 win over Sacramento, Davis led the way with 27 points and nine rebounds.
Over his most recent five games in the regular season, he had 25 or more in only two of them, but he had 23 on April 11 against Toronto and seemingly suffered an adductor injury in that one.
As mentioned, the Grizzlies are allowing 57.1% of 2-point shots to fall over their last three games.
Against the Kings, Davis shot just 9 of 23 from the floor. I think he’ll only improve here and still put up 27.
This last leg of 25 points may be a bit conservative, but I’ll play it safe.
